Saw 'Milk' today, great movie and has a news clip of Anita Bryant saying.....
that she "Loves" gay people.

It reminded me so much of Rick Warren saying the same thing.

Anita and Warren are two of a kind. I wonder if Jimmy Carter would have had Anita perform at his inaugural party?

1. Oh yeah. Falwell said that all the time too. I remember it well.
To hear them tell it, there's no one they love more than the people they really hate.

3. Very shortly following her nation-wide crusade against gay people,
Anita Bryant's heterosexual marriage hit a brick wall.

Divorce city. She also lost her job as the spokesperson for the orange juice folks.

Anita Bryant claimed, as a result of her anti-gay public crusade, that she had received death threats.

Writer Gore Vidal doubted this. “As to Anita’s fear that she’ll be assassinated," Vidal said, "the only people who might shoot Anita Bryant are music lovers.”

10. Hi, JackBeck. You're welcome. Vidal is one of those people nobody should
ever challenge.

I've seen him lay a lot of people to waste who tried to take him on, usually on the subject of history.

He's no slouch.

He and Truman Capote were said to have been bitter rivals dating back to the Kennedy White House years. Much later, Vidal was out dining and oe of the restaurant officials approached his table and told him that Capote had just died.

Vidal was said to have thought for a second or two and then responded, "Excellent career move."

11. He's one of the few people I idolize.
Perpetual War For Perpetual Peace ranks up there as one of my personal favorites.

12. I don't blame you one bit. Vidal has said he had no idea how
popular that book would become. He wrote it more as a matter of heart and mind, expecting that only a few readeers would be interested.

He got a far more positive response than he bargained for.

I love his novels as well. Many great ones, but I love JULIAN best of all.

4. Let me guess: "love the sinner, hate the sin" rhetoric? Makes them feel better and justified

7. Anita Bryant like I need a hole in the head.
Milk was a wonderful film. I'm thinking of going to see it again with my Mom. She remembered the Florida Orange boycott and how successful that was. We need to find out something to boycott around Rick Warren that will make an impact I'm thinking.
