Paparazzo snaps shirtless Obama
A paparazzi picture of a buff and shirtless Barack Obama Monday prompted a decidedly un-presidential reaction on the Web.

“Dang, my President is SMOKIN' HOT. Who else has such a fine leader? France? Great Britain? Eat your heart out, Sarkozy,” wrote one commenter on The Huffington Post, one of a select few outlets to receive the images Monday.

Peter Moore, the editor of Men’s Health magazine who interviewed Obama on his workout habits for a November cover story, told Politico his nearly seven-day-a-week regimen seems to have paid off. “No love handles to speak of on the sides. You see the definitions in his arms. He’s a dude. Wow.”

Beyond playful interest in Obama's physique, the photographs are bound to raise questions within Obama’s inner circle about the family’s privacy. The Obamas have been fiercly protective of their daughters, in particular, reaching agreements with news organizations during the campaign about when they could be photographed.

But Bauer Griffin, a Los Angeles photo agency, was not bound by any agreements and released 37 shots of the Obamas and their daughters, Sasha and Malia, at their beachfront vacation home Sunday.

The images, which were given to the Huffington Post, TMZ.com and Celebuzz.com, show Michelle Obama and their daughters in bathing suits, carrying towels and playing with friends. They are the images of any normal beach vacation, but such an unmanaged peek into the Obamas’ world is highly unusual.

An Obama transition spokesman declined to comment on Obama's reaction.

2. As a personal trainer and sport nutritionist...
so he works out seven days a week, as he likely should. Can I begin to advocate for a leader that makes such a commitment?

Or is this all about a picture?

3. Oh for god sake. He was swimming in the ocean while on vacation.
If you really want to do comparisons, ask yourself "Would you REALLY WANT to see most of the other leaders shirtless?" I can give you a list of those I wouldn't want to see! Shrub, Cheney, Brown...and the list goes on....

4. What's the big deal about the pic?
A thin guy in bathing shorts, what's there to see? Besides, wasn't Obama girl fawning all over a similar pic taken months ago?

18. Fun pics but this worries me
If paparazzo can get close enough to take these pics undetected, well, then let's just say that the secret service should tighten up security.

21. Owner of the company that took the pics said on CNN...
... "the photographer was more than a football field away and simply had better equipment than everyone else. And since he's not a member of the press corps, he cant be told what to do."

They guy was a jerk and it's abundantly clear they (the photographer and his boss) have no problem invading the first family's privacy in order to make money.

So what should we do? Blast that picture all over cyberspace and beyond so that it becomes worthless. ;)

20. did anyone see the photographer talking on CNN?
(Well, they were talking to him on the phone). He was such an asshole. John Roberts asked if he thought it was appropriate to take pictures of the girls in their suits, since there is an agreement between the press corps not to take pictures like that of the kids, and the photographer said that they only do it in exchange for access at other times, and are "yes men". And John Roberts said "So, you think they're fair game?" and the photog snapped back "FAIR GAME? I don't like that term." And John Roberts asked if he expected the Obamas to get more Paparazzi type coverage than presidents of the past, and the photog didn't like that term either. And so Roberts clarified and said "Ok, coverage like a celebrity would get?" And the photog snapped back "Do you not consider Barack Obama a celebrity!" After the interview, the woman on CNN (I don't really watch CNN in the morning, so I don't know her name) said "Wow, he really...had a chip on his shoulder."
