HOLLYWOOD, California (CNN) -- Reality television featuring law enforcement officers on the beat is nothing new. A show featuring a lawman who makes jailed inmates wear pink underwear and uses actors to trick suspects, however, is a new twist.


Maricopa Co. Sheriff Joe Arpaio now has his own TV show, "Smile: You're Under Arrest."

Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio -- whose showy brand of justice has raised charges of discrimination and civil-rights abuses while making him a hero among fans of his tough-on-crime attitudes -- will star in "Smile: You're Under Arrest."

The show, which premiers this weekend on Fox Reality Channel, features Arpaio and other officers using elaborate ploys crafted by comedy writers and carried out by professional actors to arrest suspects with outstanding warrants.

5. Whenever Joe starts to fade from the public limelight

he concocts a scheme like this. Whether it's pink underwear or black and white striped jail uniforms or female chain gangs or tent city jails or "Inmate Idol" (yes, Joe actually did this. Had a bunch of inmates in his tent jail perform their own American Idol competition. He never did it again to my knowledge because people thought he was softening up. LOL).

Joe is a media creation and whore.

We had a great candidate running against him.
One of the newspapers, plus the free press, did an expose' on his questionable tactics.

Yet he wins and wins big.

The politics in this beautiful state are unbelievable. Getting better, but still have a looooong way to go.

6. I heard earler on the radio that the Goldwater Institute...

a VERY conservative, libertarian group, issued a report saying Arpaia pretty much screwed up on his job-- his jurisdiction has more crime, fewer arrests, and fewer warrants followed up on than the Phoenix and the other adjacent counties.

Doesn't seem to make much difference to the assholes voting for him, though.
