Why I'm proud to be from Minnesota: Watch the count of abstentee ballots
http://www.theuptake.org/

#1 We have same day registration
#2 We have an automatic recount where the election is within 1%
#3 We have a paper trail
#4 Our secretary of state appointed 2 republican appointed judges, one independent appointed judge, and one elected judge to the canvassing board.
#5 The recount process was open to the public, my county broadcast it's count on the web
#6 The canvassing board process has been open to the public and webcast
#7 Every challenged ballot was posted on the web
#8 Every ruling of the canvassing board was posted on the web
#9 Every paper filed in court has been posted on the web
#10 Much of this has been completed during one of the snowiest winters in Minnesota history.

1. That's fine, but this is taking too long
Minnesota is not that big of a state. Why must this drag into January? Are all of these long breaks really necessary?

The recounting should be going on 24/7, with no breaks, and especially not these long breaks for the holidays. There are important things at stake here, more important that these extended vacations for bureaucrats.

3. I understand that Coleman will sue if he loses. What possible
chance could this lawsuit have if all the evidence has been so thoroughly aired?

4. Minnesota is showing people how it should be done...no, it's not taking
too long...they're taking their time making sure it's done right, and any challenges/issues are being dealt with. If only Florida in 2000 had people with brains running the show.

7. I agree, I am proud of my state and the non-partisan board's performance
People complain about how long it has been but it could have been soooo much longer.

9. Minnesota is a great example for the rest of the nation
Just think. If Minnesota just took the initial count and never double checked then that scum Norm Coleman would be elected already. Thank God for the wisdom of Minnesotans.

12. You have paper ballots. Not a paper trail.
Here's what a paper trail looks like:
?v=0

You may have your Secretary of State Mark Ritchie to thank for the excellent system you have today. Mary Kiffmeyer, your old SOS, not so much.
