India, The First Kitty Has Passed Away..
WASHINGTON - The first family leaving the White House this month will be without one of its longtime members: the Bush family's 18-year-old cat has died.

The first lady's office said Monday that India, a black American shorthair named for former Texas Rangers player Ruben Sierra, died Sunday at the White House.

Bush daughter Barbara, then 9, named the cat “India” after Sierra, a former major league player, whose nickname was "El Indio." President George W. Bush was a former co-owner of the Texas Rangers.

2. meanwhile....
Instead of tracking the incoming bottle rockets and obliterating the launch sites, our 'friends' are going for regime change by shooting ducks in a barrel and as usual they only foster the conditions for yet another oppressed generation to wage war with them.

11. I didn't even realize they had a cat until last month....
.... so sad.

Of course the irony that one of the cats nicknames was "Willie" ..... the name of Lincoln's son who died in the White House, is worth noting.

Will there be two ghosts now? :)

.... that little camera hog. :)

Seriously, India, being a cat, probably didn't have a great desire to frolick on the White House lawn in full view of the press pool. He probably talked to Socks and got the scoop on that. Remember that one shot of the photographers surrouding that poor cat? lol

(and since I cant find that pic, here's a random shot of the Big Dawg and Socks)

16. I love black cats, I had one for 12 years, my beloved Smokey
He was a big boy and weighed in at 20 pounds and was afraid of his own shadow. I need another kitty soon, its been two years. RIP India, all cats are good souls to me.

19. I had a black dog too for a short time, a black lab
I was told by a rescue organization that surprisingly people adopt black dogs and cats less often because they are afraid of bad luck. Seems so silly and superstitious to me.

poor kitty, may he RIP. He was a beautiful cat.

22. Beautiful kitty.
Bush always struck me as the kind of person who would hate cats because they would threaten his oh-so-fragile manhood. A lot of swaggering dickheads like Bush dislike cats and need a dog to slobber all over them. (Disclaimer: I'm NOT saying all dog people are dickheads!)
