(well through one Blog at the Reader, at least)

In other words, he was and still is a running joke.

1. That's what I
gathered from Illinois DUers, too.

2. It was always destined to be an ugly ending.
He's obviously too personally "invested" (financially) in his office to not fight it.

I just wish this would shine a spotlight into the state and city halls of government as well. I'm interested to see if Hot Rod falls on his sword while going down fighting during the senate trial or sells out all those around him in the chamber that have been complicit in his pay for play crimes.

3. Lots of drama we
could obviously do without but that's not going to happen. "It's not what happens it's how you handle it"..so I hope it's handled in the best way possible.

5. I personally wish Patrick Fitzgerald would use this opportunity to clean house in both
parties in our state. They missed that opportunity by focusing only on Governor Ryan before.

The sad thing is that I liked the ends Blagojevich had pursued, until I found out his means. As opposed to the Daley machine here in Chicago, I've never quite figured out how or why he keeps winning. He's about surface appearances and his dealings are most likely way more nefarious than what is on the Blagojevich tapes.

I hope JJJ runs against him in the mayoral race. I really do. He'd be about the only person that could win.

7. I read blago was the only Dem
from Illinois who voted for the IWR when he was a congressman and the person who wrote about it said it was his District and they were against the War.

8. Thanks for reminding of that.
I was living in New Jersey at that time.

I was thinking more of free CTA rides for seniors, Daycare for All (which really hasn't gotten off the ground), etc. Anyone who rides the CTA knows that Blago routinely threatened people with lost funding for his political ends. We've suffered several waves of these threats so he could get things like this passed (though it's debatable whether Daycare for all was meaningful legislation or if he had anything to do with it).
