Charlotte schools letting inauguration trips be an excused absence
I just filed the form with my daughter's school so our trip to DC will be an excused absence. All she has to do is give a report to her third grade class on the trip.

1. It's certainly an educational opportunity
And history. Hope you and the daughter have fun and we expect a report from you as well. :)

5. Here excused absenses aren't all that great
because you still have to validate over 10. I am glad they are doing it, but here it is exam time so we really can't.

6. postponed exams
CMS moved the exams for kids in the upper grades. There are several high schools making the trip and one marching band from one of our poorest schools is going to be in the parade.

7. I have no problem with this. I actually think the day should be a national holiday.
It's a historic and important day in American history and every four years, it should be a national holiday.
