2. imo, precisely WHY we need it now
The arts can be a great diversion from economic and political woes. If it weren't for the arts the last eight years, I would have gone berserk.

11. I agree with you ... better to give money directly to public schools to maintain what they
do have left as far as music, art, etc. classes.

The WPA supported the arts. We should do that again.

9. I would oppose that more than anything since Iraq.
Ideally the government should have no role in the arts whatsoever.

I view the government having ideas about art roughly equivalent to the government having ideas about religion.

He said he wanted to have recitals and poetry readings and concerts at the White House.
