The worms are so coming out of the woodwork. Guess our PE
should go to the back of the fucking bus and be inaugurated.

By the time January 20 comes, all the worms will be suffering from a heart attack. Goodbye to bad rubbish!

For all Americans who worked so hard to make change happen, let the celebrations begin. The citizens of the world are backing your new President and we know that you all worked really hard for this historic moment.

America is back! Love all of you!

I want to celebrate just like you, I am taking the day off to celebrate with you via TV.

Peace and Love

2. We're a country who lucked out on neighbors north and south,
and we beg that you reconsider us in the light of our new president.

Also you folks in Canada have tremendous folk music.

5. "Lucked out"...Man, isn't that the truth?
I've never heard anyone say it quite that way before,
but it's a certain fact that this nation has enjoyed
some great benefits from its serendipitous location
between two of the planets biggest and friendliest nations.

10. I do have my moments, don't I?
Happy New Year to you as well.

It's a special New Year for me, with emphasis on the "NEW":
I'm starting a new life from Square One, and I just turned 40
on the 30th.

In honor of both those issues, I went out and got my first haircut
since July of 1994.

It's wild, having short hair- I bet I could bump into you
on the street and you wouldn't even recognize me.

15. LOL! Since 1994. Not bad at all. Good for you either way.
And yes, you do have your moments, quite a damn few of them, in fact.

12. old crusoe, am a silent admirer of you, BabylonSister, Frenchiecat
and lots of others on here.

Am so proud of you all, welcome back America. Let's work together to make the world a better place and let's hold your new President to withdraw from Iraq and scale down from Afghanistan.

This is so historic, never thought I'd see this in my lifetime. Let the celebrations begin.

16. Hi, akbacchus. I am in esteemed company in any group that includes
babylonsister and Frenchiecat, and as you say, other DUers. It's a very, very good site and I always come away learning things.

Occasionally a far-right freeper type slips thru and begins hurling invective, but is usually buried alive within moments! The pile-ons are lots of fun around here!

Agree with you all the way on Iraq and Afghanistan and Obama.

Next Tuesday, I want to think of 'America' as the whole hemisphere.

Thanks again for your post, akbacchus.

14. old crusoe, we never locked any of you out. It broke my heart
to see the Harper Govt sending back soldiers who came to Canada because they did not want to kill people in Iraq. Just recently, we marched to stop him from sending back some soldiers but as you know, Harper is mini Bush. Thank goodnes Chretien opposed george bush.

I am so happy for you all and for us too and for the world as a whole. Always loved your posts.

17. It would be a big first step if U.S. schools began to more generously
highlight the histories and cultures of other nations generally and Canada and Mexico especially.

I hear you on Harper, but none of us could utter a peep with Dubya living in the White House. There's a palpable lift among Democrats, independents, and other progressives that we're FINALLY going to be rid of the guy. He's subtracted from the dignity of people all over the world. I'm guessing the historians are at work right now with biographies, and I'm thinking Dubya is in for a bitter finish in the public eye. He has richly earned his negative reputation.

Much peace to you in 2009, akbacchus.

3. Thank You. I've never heard such silliness surrounding the cost of
Obama's inauguration, in my whole life. We must get used to the fact that there are some at DU who will never GET OVER IT. As Barbara Boxer told the very rude James Inhofe, "elections have consequences". Obama won, and I for one, don't begrudge him the cost of securing the capital city for the momentous occasion, not to mention the amount of money that this event will pump into the DC economy.

9. Well, he deserves it, eh? First time an AA gained the electorate ...
and I know all of you worked hard for this to happen. Welcome back America, the America whom the world wants to love again. And I love you all to make this happen, am so proud

13. Well, according to some, he should go sit at the back of the bus ...
but no more. No matter what it costs, millions of people wanted change and if the cost is gonna be used to protect the new President, his family, the new VP and his family and the millions of supporters, and he even raised most of the money, then let the celebrations begin. I cannot wait.

Americans this time did not let us down, am so proud of you all. I almost died when Bush got in 2004, searched everywhere to find out why? Found TalkLeft, Truth Out and Common Dreams made a reference to DU, lurked for two years and then joined and paid up.

The world is so proud of you, love you all. And contrary to some who say Obama is lesser of two evils, I know in my heart that he is not. Am and a God fearing person, hope am not sinning, but I know the world would be a better place with a democrat at the helm.

Wanted to be there with you all but I will share the celebrations via TV as am taking the day off as well.
