I'm volunteering and got my assignment. I'll be at a Metro stop directing people and won't even be able to see a Jumbotron.
This sucks, I won't be able to go over to the parade either. I have to be there at 5am and not finish until 3pm.
I didn't expect a plum assingment but I can't really think of a worse one either.

They asked us not to blog but I need to vent.

1. It will still be fun; you'll get caught up in the contagious excitement,
be helping the President and have dibs on bragging about that, and if it's any comfort this thing is going to be on a constant loop of reruns.

Thanks for volunteering.

7. Right! If you WEREN'T 'underground,'
Edited on Fri Jan-16-09 09:27 AM by elleng
you'd be bumping elbows with the same crowd, 'hoping' to see something/anything, and freezing your extremities off!

2. Man, sorry to hear that. What you're doing is great though. People like you
are an invaluable part of our society. Thanks for you service. Maybe you'll get some kind of unexpected break, and something cool will happen. Good luck.

3. They also serve who direct people at Metro stations
Without volunteers like yourself, the inauguration could never happen. Thank you for helping to make sure that we finally get a different president.

4. At least I'll know where the bathrooms are
Because I'm going to get asked that about 20,000 times.

9. For those who really have to "go", you will represent "hope"...
For those with infants and toddlers, you will represent "change". :D

10. Just think, though
It's YOU and people like you who are helping to make this possible! Your role is important and you're helping Obama start off on the right foot. If I was going (I decided against it in the end), I'd be extremely grateful for those volunteering their time to give directions because my sense of direction is very poor. You're helping to keep people safe by making sure they get to where they need to go and you're being a true public servant. :)

14. Thanks. I'll just need to find a good party that night.
At least I'll be done early enough to go out and have fun.

13. You'll be at the pulse...
You'll be in the presense of so many Obama supporters...you'll feel the vibes of this great day that the rest of the world (myself included) can only see on a screen.

15. Why?
Why do you have to stay there until 3p.m.? Doesn't the ceremony start at 10a.m.? I think you will need

a bathroom break at least and probably won't find a portojohn unless it's near a jumbotron? Thanks for

being a helper. I know your services are needed and will be appreciated by many who WILL GET TO SEE THE

CEREMONY! You're a "better man" than I am! (I'm not a man).
