BARACK OBAMA
Halleluiah!
BARACK OBAMA is going to be THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Well, well, well---I can’t believe that the time is finally here—that we’re seeing the end of shrub.
The last speech was given tonight and in three more days the time will be here!

Guys and Gals---- Yippee yioh yiah!

Did you think it would ever happen? Those of us that have stayed the course here on DU, because we agree with each other more than we disagree, have been disappointed too many times to count, but always had a place to vent in the face of the unbelievable atrocities that have taken place in our name, by our government?

We’ve been lied to repeatedly and more than 4000 American soldiers have lost their lives, all in the battle of “Good versus Evil”. Countless more are maimed physically and mentally here in our country and as we know countless others around the world are either displaced, starving or simply dead, all for the sake of one man’s fragile ego, and a need to outdo his father, in every way.

We have been here for each other and cheer each other on, when there was good news, and commiserated when they were bad.

We have marched together, protested endlessly, worn orange bands, written limericks and silly stories, taken great photos, participated in hundreds of polls, supported liberal radio, made endless phone calls, stood in long lines to get into rallies, stood in the cold and in the heat; in short we really fought for what we wanted, tooth and nail.

Now I know that none of us are in as good a mood as we really ought to be, because most of us are suffering in one way or another, but let me say it again

BARACK OBAMA is going to be THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

I may be evicted next month and my credit rating will fall irretrievably low, shit-- I may have to declare bankruptcy, and this has certainly put a damper on my spirits, but despite of my personal dilemmas I’m going to take this moment to revel in our united, wonderful accomplishments.

I, like a lot of you worried so much about some of the decisions he has made in recent weeks and I started to get that sinking feeling in my gut—that maybe all politicians really are the same. That they will say anything until they’re elected, and then seemingly stab us in the back, or let us down in one way or another, it’s just a fact. I had my doubts over some of his chosen crew, without mentioning any names, because we all know those who piss us off, but this man always comes good, and before I have a chance to really freak out he will prove his incredibly sane intellect and reassure me in the process.

BARACK OBAMA... I just love saying it, and HILLARY CLINTON, as a woman I am so proud of her, she is the perfect counterpart to him, well traveled and popular around the world. Lets face it the have the battle of the ages ahead of them, as there isn’t much left in the this world that isn’t broken, the details don’t need to be mentioned again.
And today I felt really vindicated when our new AG, admitted under oath that Water boarding was indeed torture. There is a man that inspires respect and trust, just by that statement alone, and it seems that justice will be truly served, when he is confirmed.
I’ll try to finish this off with a lesson I learned yesterday, one that we may all need to learn, in order to help Obama fulfill his and our vision for our country and our planet.

I attended a small demonstration with moveon.org yesterday, and for the first time I discussed my situation in public, with a megaphone, (I never imagined I’d do that in my life), but after listening to some of the others first, it wasn’t difficult at all, because we all shared similar problems ---and together we were taking real action for change, But the lesson came when a smaller group met for coffee afterwards and we got to know each other a little better. I soon realized that I was on the far left of most of the people at the table, although there were a few who shared my points of view….and it came to me then that I would have to change too! As much as I feel sure that being as left winged and progressive is really a good thing, I would always be a little divisive if I didn’t take the time to see the right wing point of view too. I don’t have to agree with it, but like

BARACK OBAMA who had taken the time to address his archenemies on the right, I think we really have to follow his footsteps if we truly want to get out of this incredible mess the shrub and his crew has left in their wake. I know it sucks, and seems like a waste of time in some ways, but it seems to work. I don’t think he would have been elected if he’d reacted to all the filth directed at him from some in this country, but he was because he reached out to everybody. In short, he practices what he preaches and so should we.

I guess that’s it, but I want to say it one more time:

Next week BARACK OBAMA WILL BECOME THE 44TH PRESIDENTT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Hallelujah!

1. I think outside of DU (and like minded people) few realize just how close our nation came
to its destruction. A McCain presidency and his SC appointments would have meant an end to our freedom and our American way of life.

Hooray for President Obama!

Thank God for the return to intelligent and mature leadership!

2. I agree
And we're still just teetering on the edge.
But the nation has come together despite all the odds and we are taking our first steps as a family, no matter how disjointed we might be at first.
Hooray!
