O'BAMA ! Ireland set to honor native son:
I'm first generation Irish-American, so I'm absolutely loving this:

The school that an ancestor of US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama attended is pictured in Moneygall, Co Offaly, Ireland. Offaly County Council is mulling plans for a heritage centre in his name, a spokesman said on Friday.

9. It might sound silly, and I'm not at all sure why, but that made me tear up.
Now I may have to drink.

10. Awesome.
I had the pleasure of visiting Ireland for the first time a few years back. One of the things I found most interesting is exactly how interested Ireland is in the United States. The front-page news of Irish papers often included quite detailed political and domestic news in the United States. Of course, the news they were printing there was the same bullshit they were printing here, including that years-old terror warning the Bush Administration flogged us with that summer.

One day I was filling up the rental car at a gas station while wearing my DU "Worst President Ever" shirt, and the attendant looked at me quite curiously. He asked me, "do you really think he's the worst President ever?"

"Oh, hell yes," I replied, and we went on to have a little chat about some of the crap in the news. He was better informed than some of the guys taking bong hits on my couch back home inside the Beltway. But he was also chock-full of American propaganda, and that's when I began to wonder exactly how many people around the world were buying all of the Bush Administration bullshit. I suspect it is a lot.
