Info on who to call to report threats against Obama:
Cross posted from GD.

How can I report a threat towards a protectee?

"Contact your nearest U.S. Secret Service field office which is listed in the "Emergency Numbers" section in the front of most phone books.

The Secret Service is interested in legitimate information relating to threats, plans or attempts by individuals, groups or organizations to harm Secret Service protectees. However, the agency does not desire or solicit information pertaining to individuals or groups expressing legitimate criticism of, or political opposition to, the policies and decisions of the government or government officials."

3. I wouldn't call 911 unless the threat was very imminent.
I would probably call district State Police if there wasn't Secret Service field office nearby. Failing that then drop down to County Sheriff.

4. 911 is for *local* emergencies
911 is to your local emergency response for local emergencies. Unless Obama is at your house or neighborhood when the threat comes, that would be totally inappropriate.

5. thank you
I live in a very red village (surrounded by purple and some blue). I wouldn't be surprised to overhear threats from my neighbors and will be more than happy to report any I do hear.
