In my view, the Philadelphia speech alone could stand as one of the great Inaugural Addresses.

It begins! There were many days when I thought a day like this one would never come. But it has.

1. My tears started earlier this past week...

When I saw his official picture, the one that will be in federal buildings, I cried!!!

And I have been dancing and just shuffling and crying - oh what a weekend!

He knocks it out of the park every time. MSNBC's reporter in Wilmington said that Barack will speak for around an hour there. Holy cow. Perhaps that's the total time they'll be there though. It takes a while to greet the people and depart, so it's possible he'll speak for around 40 minutes. He is scheduled to speak around 1:00 EDT.

it sends chills down my spine. He's so brilliant, passionate, and eloquent about comparing the challenges of 1776 with the challenges of today.

13. The American Revolution is...

of course one of the most important times in our country's history. So was the Civil War, but it was the darkest time in our country's history. The Civil Rights Movement's breakthroughs in the 1950's and 1960's are also up there with the Revolution as one of the most important times. Kind of hypocritical to have a Declaration of Independence that states all men were created equal but to not even allow people basic human rights. And sadly, we still have a ways to go in this regard but things have gotten significantly better for minorities of all stripes since the Civil Rights Movement had so many breakthroughs. Next stop will be making homophobia completely unacceptable as a society.

for the future. Bush has been like one step backwards for 8yrs, which is why so many think he's been a horrible president.. he went backwards, didn't trust in the people or the future.

and HORRIBLE computer generated monkeys with Shia LeBouf swinging around through the trees with the monkeys like Tarzan or something. Talk about an AWKWARD ass scene. There's also a moment where Indy survives a nuclear blast by jumping in a fridge. There was an entire blog started as a result of it called "Nuke the Fridge" which is just a play on "jump the shark." Lucas is a hack and unfortunately he dragged Spielberg into it too. There's a TERRIBLE 1950's "nostalgia" bit at the beginning of the movie. It's Lucas' attempt to copy his classic American Graffiti, but it comes off really poorly.

as usual. He's the most consistently great speaker we've had possibly ever in the Presidency. When he talks about the American Revolution, it sends chills down my spine. You can't help but feel his passion for restoring the country to at least some sense of nobility. We are literally in the damn gutter right now and things can only get better.

after watching Barack's speech in Philadelphia and then the event with the Bidens in Delaware. It just all seems to be sinking in for me, that all the endless hours of phonebanking, canvassing, rally and debate watching, poll tracking , etc, etc ( not to mention these past eight, long years..)have all led up to this, this incredibly beautiful moment for America and her history. It's so wonderful, seeing all those joyful people together in one place, happy to see a change coming, happy to see Obama, happy to be together with all the others who feel the same way they do.

I cried again watching him in Baltimore, after the speech, when there was a closeup of him going through the crowd shaking hands and smiling... that radiant smile! That's a man who's comfortable with himself and with other people--unlike Bush, whose interactions with other people were always all about his dominance over them (I suspect he did that because he was afraid they would laugh at him if he didn't make them fear him).

I feel so blessed that after eight years of Bush we aren't just getting rid of a tragically bad president, we're getting a wonderful, sunshiny, dedicated president in his place.

And seeing the biggest crowds of all on Tuesday, everyone just ecstatic and hopeful... it'll be absolutely beautiful. The waterworks will really turn on then. :)

The thing is, I'm not an overly emotional person. I'm not particularly sentimental. I don't cry at weddings. But this is so huge in so many ways, I'm totally verklempt. I've always been politically aware and involved, but I've NEVER seen an election that had me in tears all the time the way this one has! I can't wear mascara. The neighbors probably think either I had everything invested in Circuit City or my marriage is in deep trouble, the way I'm always weepy-looking.

I feel much the same as I did immediately after the election, that this isn't a victory so much as a necessary precondition for things to stop getting worse, and the long and dispiriting two months that followed (economic collapse continuing unabated, the strife in Mumbai and the Gaza Strip...) only underlined that feeling for me.

Thomas Friedman had the right idea*; swear Obama in in the back of Air Force One like LBJ and let him get to work.

It's been difficult to hold back the tears - I can feel that same feeling I felt on election day welling up inside me again.

I was inside the airport for a few minutes before my customer's plane arrived.

I sat down in the baggage area, where they had CNN playing for people waiting.

I was only there for 10 minutes...watching the crowds on TV yell and scream at the train in excitement...

I couldn't believe I was tearing up just sitting right there in the middle of the freaking luggage area, watching stupid CNN.

Had to get up and leave even though I could have sat a few more minutes -- I was afraid I would get too choked up before I had to drive.
