This train ride was a brilliant idea
I was wondering how this would work out but this has been a unique and incredible event - must see TV. I am very much looking forward to this inaugural. There has been nothing like this since Kennedy's. We are watching America enter a new era live, in color and HD.

The old old was finished 8 years ago.

And yes, the train travel was brilliant.

7. I was very worried at the DNC...
85,000 people all around him and as far as I could tell, there wasn't bulletproof glass around him at all. I was frightened the entire time and couldn't wait for it to be over and for them to go backstage.

It makes no sense...

for starters...

the only good thing about it is that the repukes had their "raygasm" and now dems have their "obamagasm" that drives the repukes simply bonkers...

so tell me how this isn't creepy cult like and like canonizing a "saint"...

over a week for all this WAY too much...

It gives a chance for some people who are not going to the inauguration to see the PE and VPE before they head off to DC.

38. Bingo.
They pledged to have the most open and accessible inauguration, and part of that meant bringing it to more people by having the train ride with stops on the way. Anyone opposed to that most likely has issues that can be described with words beginning with the letter 'F'.

Lincoln did the same thing.

America does have a nostalgic history......It was special.

He gave some people a chance to actively particpate during his three stops.

Enjoy the festivities! The hard work will begin Wed!

49. It seems to be a deliberate nod to Lincoln.
Specifically, it recalls Lincoln's difficult passage to DC in February, 1861. Demonstrations against the President were planned in Baltimore, and an assassination plot, the details of which never really settled out, was apparently discovered and avoided.

Lincoln had to sneak into Washington. Obama, who owes his own Presidency in some large part to Lincoln and the Civil War, is to be welcomed with fanfare never before seen. In a way, Obama's route is a testament to how far we have come--and also to how far we still need to go.

50. Yes, we need to see a human being going to the Whitehouse
Thanks, I'm loving it. Very happy to see a real POTUS like Clinton headed for office.
This past 8 years has been a Aegean nightmare with the phoniest of the phonies, to quote Tim Russert, daring to lie to the people with a sickening smirk. :scared: At least that's over. In a way what we have now is Hope and the Obamas. We've lost half our wealth and been plunged into a sea of debt for our children. It will all work out due to Moore's law applying to all technology and getting our money back in the form of "free green energy" i.e., not dumping $500B/year into the sands of Arabia. But, it will take some time. First we have to get the shock of the Neocon shock doctrine which has not really hit yet. 2009 is going to be batten down the hatches time. I can see my hope now, so we're OK. Have a nice weekend!
