Just another bit of history...
Barack is the first President born outside the continental U.S. He's breaking down a number of barriers all at the same time. I hadn't even thought about this one until I was just randomly reading the Wikipedia article on the President of the United States.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_U.S.#Rationale

Look at the right side of the screen and there's his official portrait with the little summary about how he's the first non-mainland President. I'm sure this is yet another thing that many people didn't think they'd see for a long time to come.

2. LOL...
I would laugh but it also makes me sad because I have co-workers who use this as their excuse for why they hate him. The real reason is racism, but their manufactured bullshit excuse is "he was born in Kenya." They are nice people and pretty smart, but insanely partisan to the point of denying the facts.

3. The answer to that is simple
Step one, ask them if they beleive Barak's parents had mysterious psychic powers.

Inevitably they will answer, "of course not"

Then ask them why his non-psychic parents would go through this amazingly convoluted process to make it look like the kid was born in the US.

For bonus points, get them to try to figure out why Hawai'i and not some "Heartland" state.

If you're lazy you could point out that he could have been born on the moon, but so long as one of his parents is a natural-born American, so is he.

5. Heh...
I don't talk politics with them. Pretty much the whole company is conservative (oil and gas company) and I'm literally in Bush land (Midland, TX). The only politics I've ever talked with any of them is the bailouts, which I think many people on both sides are against. But they don't know I support Obama and I'd rather not lose my job over it so I simply don't talk to them about actual political issues beyond the bailout.

4. oh I ran into a Hillary supporter like that the other day
It was on Craig Crawford's facebook. She was mad because she said she'd never believe he was a naturalized citizen. She thinks all hell is going to break loose when it comes out that Obama isn't really American born. I did kind of make fun of her like a jerk, Craig actually intervened a little because a few of us roughed her up some, but I hate how people will say condescending stuff like "Oh you can't question the Messiah" while then saying something fruitloopy like he's not really a citizen. Honestly, it's all so bizarre, I have quit arguing with people like that and started ridiculing them like they deserve.
