13. I don't think it's a matter of smearing Obama, nor is it about

any homophobia on Obama's part, nor is it even about gay rights going forward (though some may disagree.) It's about basic goddamn civility. It is offensive to hold a celebration meant to set the tone for the next four years, and invite a speaker who doesn't think that a considerable part of the invitees deserve any degree of respect. And when you later offer up a gay-rights pioneer as a counterbalance of sorts, to then without any warning or explanation effectively cut him from the TV program is extraordinarily offensive.

Yeah, so prayers aren't usually said before concerts, and maybe HBO didn't feel like showing it. So? Either you have a prayer as part of the full ceremony, TV and all, or you don't. To let him speak but not turn the cameras on is frustrating, and feels calculated even if it is not actually.

Obama's team scheduled this at 1:20. HBO's broadcast started at 1:30. It might be that HBO said, "we won't show a prayer," and it might be that Obama's team said, "eh, whatever, let's get the prayers and shit out of the way before the TVs go on."

Can't blame George Stevens Jr, and his production company for this foul up. Blame the organizers! Clearly Robinson was added after all the production planning had been completed, and as a token to LGBTs for the high profile invocation that Warren will give.

15. It wasn't inaudible...I was between the Washington Monument

and WWII Memorial and heard him clearly. Initially the volume was low out of the sound system, but it wasn't inaudible. I'm glad he was there and the crowd really appreciated his invocation.
