Do You Think Bishop Robinson Would Have Agreed To Give The Invocation Today...
If he had known it wouldn't be seen on HBO?

8. Intellectual honesty means you admit to fishing and speculation
why don't you call him?

13. It Means Nothing Of The Sort...
And I haven't seen one post from anyone here who's vilified HBO or the Obama team tonight that knows the answer. The only "fishing" here is for yet another reason for outrage and overreaction.

26. The issue is did the nation get to hear him? No. That was the point
of including the GLBTQ community in the big tent- nation wide.

27. It May Only Be An "Issue" BecauseYou Want It To Be One...
The point is, neither you nor I have any idea whether his invocation was ever scheduled to be broadcast in the first place. To me, just being invited to speak there should be enough of an honor. Others expected more.

I don't know if it was a "snub" and you have no idea whether he chose to speak knowing it wasn't to be broadcast. I certainly wouldn't defend it if it was some sort of a snub, but then again I don't expect those who jumped to conclusions tonight to not have completely new reasons for outrage tomorrow.

2. Most likely.
Religious folks don't care if they are talking to one person or 500,000 or millions.

I'm sure we will hear more about this from him.

4. I don't think the HBO showing was planned
when they first announced Bishop Robinson. It would have been nice for him to be on the program, but I'll wait for an official response before I fly into a rage.

6. yes, he didn't do it for popularity. His message was heard by
the people that were there. I've talked to people that were there and they heard it clearly. Maybe there was some pocket of people that didn't. Sorry it wasn't televised, I wish it had been but what can we do about it now?

7. Yes I do.
He was giving the Invocation for the Inauguration of the President of the United States of America, not

"It's not television, it's HBO"

10. Actually cliffordu, it wasn't the invocation for the inauguration of
the President.

Obama left the place today still not being President.

But I thought the whole thing from his Invocation today, till the closing Prayer was the Inauguration.

18. Naw.....each event has its own stuff.
This is part of the various inauguration festivities, but I wouldn't call it all "the inauguration".

You know that there are other events going on as we speak. Parties and seminars and stuff....kind of like with the National Democratic Convention.

30. Ah. I'm thinking the better arrangement would have been to have the
head scumbag from Deathcult 2000 speak yesterday (if they had to let the little ass speak), and Robinson do his on Tuesday morning....

But that's just me.

I have no idea what the yoyos from the inaugural festivities committee (or whoever it is who put this together and time it) have been thinking.....

9. What makes you think he expected to be in the HBO portion of the event?
What do you know that the rest of us don't. Wasn't the HBO thing kind of last minute?

11. That's what I'm wondering. Everyone here is ASSuming that
Robinson thought he would be televised and got snubbed. Nowhere did he mention being on HBO. He said he's giving the opening prayer, which he did. People who wanted to see the entire event should have flown to DC, as the concert was free.

16. I personally dont' think it was any type of snub...
Most likely they just wanted to get the prayer junk out of the way. I don't think it was ever meant to be televised.

12. Yes, because like the color guard it was nice to have the
concert open with a prayer. It was much appreciated and enjoyed by those of us at the concert. He did a great job.

17. Yes. Holding out for a better venue/ media coverage when being asked to lead a prayer is frowned...
on in nearly any denomination I can think of.

Bishop Robinson would have agreed.

19. Do you think Bishop Robinson would be surprised that it was not included in any
of the televised offerings and that we are now left hoping that some nearby viewer personally taped it so that it will make Youtube?

25. The DC Gay Mens Chorus Were Heard
loud and clear - beautiful and proud.

In a historic first, yesterday the Washington DC Gay Men's Chorus performed to a national audience in the live broadcast of Barack Obama's inauguration concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Backing pop stars Josh Groban and Heather Headley, the chorus performed My Country, 'Tis Of Thee wearing suits adorned with the red AIDS ribbon. The ribbon was the only indication that the chorus was gay, because like several other choruses that performed yesterday, their name was not announced or listed onscreen.http://www.towleroad.com/2009/01/washington-dc-g.html

28. I didn't see names for any of the choirs...

However, I thought it was peculiar that during that segment which came after the Marian Anderson tribute that the choir was predominately composed of white men.

That's exactly what I said when I saw them - "What's that? The White Men's Choir?"
