How many here will be watching the Inauguration for the first time since 1997??

For me at least, this will be the first Inauguration I plan on watching in 12 years!! For obvious reasons, I refused to watch the outgoing Idiot in Chief being inaugurated for both of his terms. To paraphrase Michelle Obama, "For the first time in 12 years, I am proud of my country"

3. If I hadn't been watching (mainly for rotten tomato throws) in '01

I would have been much delayed in coming to DU. I was desperate for some cathartic outlet and saw Skinner's sign when MSNBC picked him up in the crowd during the weekend protests that preceded the inauguration (and official kick off of DU. LOL

Can't say I watched much but the tube was on and I felt paralyzed in terms of moving away. It was not a highly celebratory affair, but more like Bush* sneaking in to lay claim on something he knew was not his to hold.

Before 2000, I was always satisfied with the report it had happened on the nightly news, as I wasn't interested in politics; after 2000, I wouldn't have crossed the street to see Little Two Shoes.
