Pardon Countdown. What's up with the BushCo pardons?
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 11:58 AM by bertman
Today's a federal holiday so the Bush JD isn't working. Right? Does this mean they will not let us know about any last-minute pardons until Wednesday?

Inquiring minds want to know.

1. They'll announce them late...
...and make them noisy, controversial, newsy.

Anything to rain on the Democrats' big day.

We're dealing with people who'd start a war to dominate the media cycle.

2. I'm sure the people working on pardons ARE working today...
Are we expecting the announcements tonight or tomorrow morning?

4. There are always people working at DOJ 24/7
A holiday just means most civil service workers aren't there.

preempt the Inauguration ceremony to let the talking headaches petulantly parse the pardons. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
