It is Caroline!
According to Señorita Drudge and the New York Post...Ok, not the best sources. Drudge and NY Post are RW tools, but they are already trumpeting Caroline as the new new York Senator. I will not even provide links to these "sources"

3. I saw Patterson on Larry King last night and he said
there are many people who are not as well known that have experience the state could use. I don't know, something about the way he said it made me think he is not choosing her or the other well known guy.

4. Kennedy 'Certain' Pick to Replace Hillary: Report
2009-01-19 09:38am

Despite claiming he's not yet made a decision, sources close to New York Gov. David Paterson say he's "certain" to pick Caroline Kennedy to replace Hillary Clinton as U.S. senator, the New York Post reported Monday.

Several contenders for the spot say Paterson will chose Kennedy so as not to offend her and her politically connected family, as well as President-elect Obama.

Caroline Kennedy is the daughter of President John F. Kennedy.

Clinton has been selected by Obama to serve as secretary of state.

6. OH, THE DRAMA!!!!11!!
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 12:25 PM by prodn2000

...after nearly two months of indecision, would "greatly embarrass" and "entirely humiliate" Kennedy, anger her prominent political family and even offend President-elect Barack Obama by picking someone other than President John F. Kennedy's daughter.

As for the governor's claim to be weighing a last-minute finalist, the contenders agree with a close Paterson friend who said, "It's clear David is just trying to play mind games with the press."

You probably should not announce a pick to fill a vacancy that doesn't exist.

7. I'd trust another source than the NY POST more, for reasons others here

have cited -- the POST trumpeted Dick Gephardt as Kerry's pick for his running mate when it turned out not to be Dick Gephardt.

There's been some bellyaching about Paterson's handling of this appointment but to date it feels to me that he's doing everything just right. I like the idea of just about any of the mentioned possibilities and think virtually any of them could hold that seat, including Caroline Kennedy.

No matter who is chosen for that Senate seat, I think Paterson emerges here as a major Democratic profile in the country. I like him a lot so far and think he's a far more formidable politician than Rudy Giuliani thinks he is.

Note to Rudy: Think twice before you take on David Paterson for the governor's job.

9. "It's been a done deal from the start," said the would-be candidate.
"David goes with Caroline with the understanding that Caroline, and her family and its resources, go with David next year. This stuff with Paterson saying he's looking at other people is a crock," the source continued.
............

Cry me a whhhhhhhhaaaaaver.
