BREAKING:Bill Nelson appointed to Senate Finance Committee (from FDP)
Dear Party Leader,

Yesterday, Sen. Bill Nelson was appointed to a high-profile position on the U.S. Senate's Finance Committee.

With that, Florida will have a powerful voice in shaping legislation on issues ranging from taxes to Social Security to Medicare, and President-elect Barack Obama's economic recovery plan.

Bill also will be helping to guide through the Senate an expansion of the Children's Health Insurance Program; and, he'll be a key player working with the new administration on a plan to give all Americans access to quality health care.

He'll also continue to be a leader on national security and space issues through his continuing service on the Senate's Armed Services, Commerce and Intelligence committees.

With the recent announcement by Sen. Mel Martinez that he won't seek re-election in two years, we look forward to another strong Democrat joining Sen. Nelson in representing Florida in the tradition of Bob Graham and Lawton Chiles.

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Karen L. Thurman
Chair, Florida Democratic Party

2. He's no Ted Kennedy but Florida isn't Massachutsetts either.
He still does pretty well on labor and the environment - far better than Mel Martinez has done and in turn even he is somewhat better than the Mitch McConnell types of the Republican Party.

4. Fabulous. One of the Nelson Twins.
I can count on them to vote with the 'Pukes
every time!

:puke:

This is shaping up to be an administration
that will require apologists.

What's a progressive to do?
