Face it. Nobody has any good excuse for being on the Intertubes
right now. Least of all DU. I'm only here because I just crawled off the tractor & I'm too fried to read a trash novel.

1. Online music and MLK Day programming
Cuz there isn't anything like that happening in my area. Got KXCI webcast going in the background today.

7. While I was shopping
I heard the MLK 'I Have a Dream' speech on the radio a guy was playing in his shop.

I damn near burst into tears right then and there.

2. Well, I'm at work and there's not much going on right now for me to do.
Got my new cat on my lap for some bonding. Reading some DU. Checking Inaugural schedule so I don't miss the big moment tomorrow on the radio (no tv at the office, and internet is DSL so no live feed).

3. New Cat!
Sigh. Nothing like that new cat smell! :P

Seriously, congrats on the new family member. I always love the initial socialization with my animals.

14. He's a half-wild former stray that some lady took in when he got an abscess.
He hisses at me when I approach his cage, but it's ALL bluff. I can pick him up and carry him around, and he lays on my lap (loves the cardigan sweater). He's really scared, but likes to be petted.

Today we vaccinated. Tomorrow is teeth cleaning, FeLV/FIV testing, and microchipping. I'll take him home in a few days after Boochi (at home) and he have smelled each other on my clothes a little more. He was a shy but companionable kitty according to the lady (whose 3 other cats were being mean to him).

11. Cleaning up an old brush pile, making firewood, etc.
There's about a foot of snow in my south field, so it's a good time for burning brush.

Here's a stock photo of the type of tractor I was using (but mine has a soft cab making it a little more comfortable in the winter)

10. Nobody has to justify why they spend time here.
We just do and that is a good enough reason. :hi:

13. There was a young man who said,
"God Must think it exceedingly odd That the Juniper tree Just ceases to be When there's no one about in the quad."

"Dear Sir, it is not at all odd, I am always about in the quad.
Thus the Juniper tree Never ceases to be Since observed by yours faithfully--
God.
