In 1861 Abraham Lincoln took over the presidency from a man who even then was considered a spectacular failure (James Buchanan), a man who fiddled (and opened his neices' mail) while "Rome" burned. Certainly Obama is also taking over from a spectacular failure, perhaps the worse one in history.

1. Nobody's making a George Washington comparison.
I've seen Lincoln comparisons, JFK, FDR, and others. But not Washington. So I will go ahead- Obama's the first black president, George Washington was the first white president.

That's something of equal importance, IMO. I wonder which dollar bill they'll put Obama on.
