So Jack Jacobs is trying to say that Obama is "snubbing veterans as a payback"
Jack Jacobs ("military analyst for MSNBC", who was constantly dumping on Obama for the past year) was just making a big deal of Obama supposedly not attending the Veterans ball tomorrow night, and saying that it was "payback for the military supporting Mccain over Obama". He also snuck in plenty of digs at the Clintons during his 1600 PA Ave visit, and then added that "Even the Clintons attended the Veterans ball". I don't know if/why Obama is not attending the Veterans ball tomorrow night, but if he isn't, it's very shitty for Jacobs to say outright that it is a calculated move as "payback"....he constantly has a partisan slant to his "analysis", and I am fucking sick of it.

2. Is he the military analyst
from MSNBC that there was controversy over? In any case, he was an asshole, and repeated several myths about the Clinton transition.

Obama lays wreath at Tomb of Unknowns

18 Jan 2009

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — President-elect Barack Obama has laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery after a short ride from Blair House.

Obama, holding his hand over his heart, was joined at the tomb by Vice President-elect Joe Biden and Gen. Richard Rowe, commander of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington.

Visitors to the hallowed burial grounds cheered Obama's limousine as it passed by under cloudy skies Sunday morning.

And there is lots of 'em.

Imus used to blow him three or four times a week, when his insipid show was still on MSNBC.

Veterans ball canceled, organizer missing

By Rick Maze - Staff writer
Posted : Monday Jan 19, 2009 14:15:20 EST

If you bought tickets to the Veterans’ Inaugural Ball, plan on staying home.

The ball, which was to be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C., has been canceled and the promoter, Dante Hayes of the nonprofit Congressional Education Foundation for Public Policy, cannot be located for an explanation.

As of 1:30 p.m. Monday, the links on the foundation’s Web site where tickets were sold — at prices topping $385 apiece — no longer work.

The St. Regis referred questions about the canceled ball to a phone number they had for Hayes, whom they identified as the sponsor and promoter. No one returned voice mails left for the foundation.

The Commander-in-Chief’s Ball at the National Building Museum and Heroes Red, White and Blue Ball at the Warner Theater are separate events and are still scheduled take place Tuesday night.

Performance artist Michael Israel, who paints large murals to hard-pounding music in front of crowds, said he had been scheduled to appear at the Veterans’ Inaugural Ball but was notified last week by the hotel that the event had been canceled because the sponsor had not met financial obligations.

Israel, who had already shipped his equipment to the hotel, said he had worked with many charities over the years but “never has it been so difficult.”

“An awful lot of promises were not kept,” Israel said, adding that Hayes “dropped the ball at every turn. We had been warned by some charities that things were not right, but the warning came too late.”

Israel said that after being invited, he and his staff reviewed the foundation’s Web site and investigated whether it was a nonprofit group registered with the IRS.

“It passed all of our checks,” he said.

Israel said he knew something was wrong when the Web site temporarily went down and his phone calls were not returned. The ball also had changed locations at least once, and there had been talk of changing yet again to another hotel, he said.

Israel had agreed to appear for free, but the sponsors were supposed to provide transportation and lodging and split the proceeds of art sales.

Israel did find another gig, though, and will perform at Virginia’s Inaugural Black Tie and Blue Dominion Ball, which is being held at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

A representative of one veterans’ group that initially had been working with Hayes said he does not know what happened.

“He had been selling tickets online, but there were some kind of problems that we understand are now being investigated,” said the representative, who asked to not be identified.

Someone needs to notify Jack Jacobs. What an ass - going on TV about this sh@# when he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Obama Honors Military with Inaugural Ball
Share | Print
By Emily Leaman Published Friday, January 02, 2009

The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) announced yesterday that Barack Obama will host the Commander-in-Chief inaugural ball. The event, which honors active duty and reserve military, first cropped up on the inaugural circuit in 2005, when President George W. Bush hosted it.

This year's soirée will be held on January 20 at the National Building Museum, the same venue Bush chose four years ago. The event is invitation only, and tickets for invited guests—which will include wounded soldiers, families of deceased soldiers, and spouses of deployed military—will be provided free of charge.

30. He might know the ball was cancelled
But instead decided to lie about it to score political points against Obama.

I put nothing past these assholes, and the article showing the ball was canceled was in the Army Times. As a military analyst, the LEAST he should do is read that publication.

I think this is on purpose, but either way, the man should be fired for being unfit for the job.

Tell them that this man is spreading false rumors and that you DEMAND he is fired for it. It is about time we pushed back on all of these hacks who think they can just make shit up and blurt it out on television. It is not only wrong, but it damages our body politic.

Hold MSNBC accountable for their lies.

29. It's a cute strategy, but we need to let them know that we see right through them
Thanks for writing. I wrote to both MSNBC and 1600 Pensylvannia. It probably will amount to nothing, but then again, it might just let them know how much we are watching what they do. Unchecked, they will go into "Get Clinton" mode like they did in the late 1990's....our country cannot afford another substanceless propaganda push by these Republican fuckers with the crises we are facing. They have no credibility, and MSNBC should be reminded of that.

28. Here is my letter
(title) Jack Jacobs need to correct the record and apologize regarding the Veterans' Ball

He was on your channel today saying that Obama did not attend the Veterans’ Ball and that he didn’t attend because the veterans did not vote for him, thus implying that Obama is petty and vindictive.

For one, the military did support Obama over McCain, this is well-known.

http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/08/troops-deployed-abroad-give-61.html

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=3601542

And for two, the ball was CANCELLED because the organizer ran off with the money. In other words, there was no ball for Obama to attend.

http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/01/military_vetsball_missingorganizer_011909w/

Read this article….Jacobs could have easily found this out before he came on television to tell a bold-faced lie to smear Obama. Obama is not vindictive, and he is not hated by the military. But I can see how Republicans would be interested in planting that false notion with the American people.

And your news channel let this man fabricate these lies just to score a partisan political point against our new president.

This guy is supposed to be a military analyst….since when do military analysts engage in this level of partisan hackery? Military guys aren’t even supposed to be partisan while they are active. Our country has had enough of paid propagandists put on cable news to act the part of “military analyst”. In suggest you either fire this man or label him what he is …..a Republican political pundit.

He has a history of this sort of thing.

You need to correct this mistake….publicly, or your news organization will lose credibility. In fact, this is one of the major reasons news in the US has lost its credibility….you spend too much time repeating lies and fanning partisan flames and too little time researching the facts. Jacobs should apologize himself….he is the one that got it wrong, and he needs to face the music.

As a news organization, I expect better than this from you. Correct this.

Sincerely,

"Zodiak" (name changed)
Columbus, OH.

They're in an uproar over the "Salute to Heroes" Inaugural Ball which honors Medal Of Honor recipients. They are claiming President Obama is the first President in 56 years not to make an appearance.
