NBC: Sources say Caroline Kennedy is NOT withdrawing
David Gregory stating that right now on MSNBC.

It could have been a leak from one of her competitors (i.e. Cuomo)

1. Anyone know Drudge's whereabouts? He's the king of false-leakers.
Loves to release slanted or wrong stories to smear liberals.

3. The plot thickens. This story was clearly leaked to the NY Times
by someone. But by who and for what reason? Was someone trying to push Caroline out, or was is simply a miscommunication between herself and Gov. Patterson? I think a "miscommunication" is ridiculous since Gov. Patterson hasn't made a public statement about it -- which means the story didn't originate from him. Someone leaked it and it clearly wasn't Caroline. Hmmmmmmm.

I love this kinda shit.

8. Yeah, it thickens..I was all set to get over Caroline
not getting the appointment because she withdrew her name..to my getting whiplash with these latest revelations.

The NYT article was pretty specific driven..

"On Wednesday she called Gov. David A. Paterson, who will choose a successor to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Her concerns about Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s deteriorating health (he was hospitalized after suffering a seizure during President Obama’s inaugural lunch on Tuesday ) prompted her decision to withdraw, this person said. Coping with her uncle’s condition was her most important priority, a situation not conducive to starting a high profile public job."

4. Could she have thought Paterson was not going to pick her? Only to find
out after news leaked, that he was?

9. No Kidding
This is a colossal fumble on Paterson's part. Everyone knows CK is Obama's pick. By letting it go this long, Paterson is causing maximum embarrassment for everyone involved: CK, Obama, the eventual nominee, and Paterson himself.

You'd expect a Governor who stood up in front of his assembly and spoke of his fleabag hotel affair to lack fear of embarrassment. That's great and commendable. Everyone else was pretty horrified, though.

10. Well, polling does show New Yorkers favor Cuomo....
I personally don't like these selections, prefer a straight special election held 6 weeks after.
