On July 22, I predicted Obama would carry Indiana

I only got the time wrong. Indiana did not go in the blue column until late on Election Day.

A lot of Hoosiers volunteered countless hours to win Indiana for Obama. Obama himself came to Indiana several times, including a stop over on Election Day, where he stopped at a union run phone bank early in the morning.

Yesterday's Inauguration was not just Obama's inaugural, but the inaugural for the millions of volunteers across this land that worked so hard to end the nightmare of the past 8 years.

4. There was a post the other day from an Iowan, a caucus worker

who said he(she) was giving themself a pat on the back. It started there, got the ball rolling. Thanks to all who worked for Obama's election! It's because of the ground troops that we got our man.

8. Yes, we did!

I keep telling the conservatives who state they aren't going to drink the kool-aid that they just don't get it. WE were the ones who were the movement. Obama was just our voice. They miss the idea that it's still about the "we".

Off subject but I was thinking today about the "we". I think our country hopefully has transcended from the "me" generation to the "we" generation.

12. Same thing here in Florida. We literally dragged ppl on

election day to the polls. There was one lady we knocked on door on election day that she did not have a car to go vote, i offered to take her, she gave me an excuse - non-important, i begged her i would drive her to the poll, she replied telling to come back later that she would think about it..

I said, ok, i have to knock on some more doors after I finish with my blocks i will come for you.. she seemed frustrated at my persistence although she did tell me she liked Obama.

Two hours later I knocked on her door again and didn't ask her nicely, i demanded her to come with me to the poling place!!.

She was stunned at my persistence, got ready, I drove her to voting place, waited and drove her back home. After she voted she thanked me and gave me a hug.

I continued the rest of the day GOTV!..

15. Indiana was my third favorite win. After VA and NC.

VA was personal to me because I'm from the area and have seen its evolution in recent years, through the "Macaca" election, to November. I saw it as absolutely central to the entire Obama electoral strategy.

But I had a really good feeling about IN based on the way the primary played out. I was on the fence as to whether we'd win it but cautiously optimistic. I knew the immense effort and infrastructure that was put in place there.

I met a woman from Evansville on the subway down to the Inauguration. She had a ticket, from a lottery through her congressman. I hope she had a great day.

Great thread from 06 by mtnsnake. Excellent nostalgic read with much spot on analysis. It was sad towards the end seeing the seeds of the Hillary/Obama primary bitterness being born though.
