Paterson - make an announcement already... please!
The inauguration is over, Clinton has been confirmed, Paterson needs to say who he has decided on because this is distracting at best, annoying more accurately.
Paterson told Andrea Mitchell that he'd made up his mind in an interview on Tuesday, and made a big deal out of saying that she was sort of "getting the scoop" that he'd made up his mind even though she couldn't get a name out of him, as hard as he tried.
If Kennedy has dropped out and she was his pick, I find it hard to believe he didn't have a "runner-up"... but I guess it's possible. If it wasn't Kennedy, it would be nice to have this resolved.
Personally, I hope Kennedy hasn't withdrawn, I was hoping she was going to take the seat. Moynihan's widow and daughter both endorsed her, as have other NY pols who know what they're talking about (in my view), and are able to see beyond the clumsy debut Kennedy had - which I think is reasonable. Saying "you know" doesn't mean you can't serve as a Senator or that you aren't qualified, skilled and knowledgeable for serving and representing your state and doing so Constitutionally and ethically. So she's not polished in terms of media savvy... that is something she could have grown into, and there are many media slick pols who I wouldn't trust with 2 cents, so that argument is dumb and sad, in my view.
Oh well... if they're re-reporting a withdrawal, it seems that it's probably more likely than not.
Too bad. I was hoping for Senator Kennedy... having lived in NY for 95% of my life, I think I qualify as having a New Yorker's perspective, and I think she would have been wonderful. (sigh).
