The president holds a big thank you soiree for thousands at the D.C. Armory Wednesday night.

Pool Report of Obama Thank You Ball



At 8:40, Potus arrrived DC armory, at the eastern edge of capitol hill,
for
a thank-you ball for obama's campaign, inaugural, transition and nascent
white house staff. Also DNC staff.

There are thousands of people here, mostly 20 and 30 somethings packing
the
wooden floor, quaffing Bud Lights and white wine from plastic cups, and
nibbling on hors d'oevres.
It is a happy crowd.
Actor Kal Penn took the stage at 8:52 pm to thank them for their work
and
joke about their bad driving and introduce the man of the hour, David
Plouffe.

"Just for tonight, revek in what you did," plouffe said. "You elected
the
president of the united states of america. You changed the course of
history."

Chants of plouffe plouffe plouffe broike out, but he interrupted it to
call
for a doctor down front. He then directed the doc to someone down front,
but he or she was ok, apparently, and plouffe continued, introducing
Potus
(black suit and same blue tie) and first lady michelle obama, who wore a
black tea length dress.

The crowd chanted Obama Obama, etc...

"You guys dress a lot sharper tyan you did in Iowa!" Obama said to
cheers.
"They look pretty fancy. Clean up nice. "

As most people aimed their cell phones and digital cameras at the stage,
Obama spoke for 15 mins, 40 seconds, first thanking his wife and
praising
Plouffe.

"There is ine person when I see him, I get choked up," obama said. "And
that is David Plouffe. Now, let's face it, David is not the most
demonstrative (guy). But that's just why I get chked up... Here is a guy
who is so good at what he does."

Then he turned his praise to the crowd: "look at you. You guys are so
young. Maybe it's because so many of you are so young, or young at
heart,
that you could imagine what hadn't been done before. You didn't know any
better when people said I couldn't win... Yes we can!"

He urged them to take the same attitude with them no what they do in
their
careers.

After 15 mins, 40 seconds, obama stoped and worked the rope line. At
9:27
we were hustled back to the van, where we're holding now.

Ball was the final official inaugural event. Entertainment was Arcade
Fire
and Jay Z.

We are heading back to white house. We have not been advised of anything
else. Will update on arrival. Blackberry dying...
