New Presidential Portraits Coming Soon

The new official portraits of President Obama and Vice President Biden that will hang in federal government buildings nationwide and around the world.

Framed photographs of President Obama and Vice President Biden will soon replace shots of former president George W. Bush and former vice president Richard B. Cheney that have adorned the lobbies of Federal outposts for the past eight years. The new presidential photos, released last week, were the first taken by a digital camera.

The Government Printing Office will print copies of the official mugs at the request of the General Services Administration and other government departments, according to GPO spokesman Gary Somerset. GSA has ordered more than 7,000 such photos for the 1,500 federal buildings it owns and operates nationwide. It expects to get the portraits from GPO during the first week of March, according to GSA spokeswoman MaryAnne Beatty.

The State Department will also need copies for American embassies overseas. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will eventually hang portraits of Obama, Homeland Security Sec. Janet Napolitano and the new CBP commissioner at port director offices, according to spokesman Steve Sapp.

Anyone can pre-order their own copy of the presidential and vice presidential portraits through the GPO's Online Bookstore. An 8-inch by 10-inch portrait costs $9.00 while 11-inch by 14-inch portrait sets you back $12.00.

As for those portraits of Bush and Cheney, GSA instructed staff on Tuesday that they "should be removed and respectfully disposed" at noon.

9. Not burned
just sprinkled with holy water.
The burning will happen by itself at that point.

7. A fun way to dispose of them:
Paper the walls in alleys where people stop to pee after hitting the bars.

10. I am going to absolutely LOVE seeing his and Biden's beautiful faces when
I come to work at HUD. I couldn't be happier. After nearly 10 years working for the Feds, I can finally say that I get pleasure from what I do.

Oh...and my new boss, Shawn Donovan, is a looker, too!! :)
