You can't work with these assholes. Its impossible. I'm sure Obama knew this having worked in the Senate. Good thing the country will start to see it as well

10. It is valid for them to ask questions - the fact is that we are
going to have an easier time than usual - because of the number of Democrats and Obama's popularity. There has YET to be a really serious challenge to anyone. (Compare the treatment of Geitner, where his tax issue will be forgiven and the Clinton appointee for AG. Kent Conrad just made a very compelling statement that the tax problems were sufficient in less troubled times to not support the nomination, but that he was supporting him.)

Stop and replace Obama with Bush - and consider how annoyed you would be if a Republican made that statement - about say Dr Rice.

15. No, they should be taken out behind the Capitol,
And given a good thorough ass-kicking. A good, old fashioned ghetto stomping.

I'm so tired of their bullshit. They are going to obstruct everything they can.

Treasonous, traitor bastards.

Dear mods, I'm speaking figuratively, kinda.

3. Are they holding them up or holding up voice votes?
That's what I'm trying to figure out.

4. Good
It gives us an excuse to totally shut them down when the amendment process comes up with legislation.

16. Hey! I'd Know You Two Incognitos Anywhere!
I think I'm going to keep my old username, even though there's about 10 new "inPA's" around now.

B-)

17. I think you got it right the first time.
(your name, that is)

;)

I can't speak for Jake, but I was anxious to get a name without all of those silly numbers at the end.

6. Your link is broken.
So I couldn't read the article... but I think this is to be expected. The fringe right are going to fight everything tooth and nail, but the past few weeks hasn't been an effort to reach out to them... it was an effort to reach out to the center-right who we can possibly work with. The fringe will continue to make themselves irrelevant, but we're going to need the center to avoid severe gridlock.

9. I read somewhere last night that Jackson's confirmation was the least certain...
Of all Obama's picks.

It would seem that Obama's cap-and-trade proposal scares the shit out of industry and they're looking to force him to pick someone more friendly to their ilk.

12. I think Obama will only take so much of this shit before he calls Pelosi and Reid in for a meeting.
The GOP cannot be allowed to stall and hold legislation as they have in the past. Nothing will get done, and we don't have time to f*ck with them at this point.

I'm sure Obama has a plan for dealing with this.

I'm sure he could get some "cooperation".

13. The fact that Obama has...
...thus far been so good at reaching across the aisle and being all inclusive regarding republicans, makes their current behavior look really childish and obstructionist. Most people, even republicans are reasonable. They can see how hard Obama has worked at changing the way things are done in Washington, yet the GOP are still playing the same games and fighting instead of finding common ground and working together.

THIS is the BIG picture where the choice of Rick Warren played the perfect little part. This is why I trust Obama's judgement.

14. "Action on Jackson?" - by WSJ Staff
Action on Jackson?
Posted by WSJ Staff

Jonathan Weisman and Stephen Power report on the EPA.

A hold has been placed on the nomination of President Barack Obama’s choice to run the Environmental Protection Agency, Lisa Jackson, said a spokeswoman for California Sen. Barbara Boxer.

It’s not clear who or what is holding up the nomination of Jackson; a spokesman for Sen. Harry Reid (D., Nev.) said he wasn’t aware of any opposition to Jackson, a former commissioner of New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection.

<snip>

A spokesman for Sen. John Barrasso (R., Wyoming) said the senator has asked that Jackson’s name be taken off of a list of cabinet nominees pegged for expedited consideration by the chamber. The spokesman said Barrasso’s main concern is not so much with Jackson, but rather that she will effectively report to an unelected, unconfirmed energy czar, Carol Browner, whom Obama has chosen as his special assistant for energy and climate policy. The spokesman added that Barrasso doesn’t oppose a roll call vote on Jackson’s nomination, but says the senator only got written answers to his questions on Tuesday and the hearing transcripts today.

At a Senate hearing last week, Barrasso asked Jackson “who will ultimately make the final EPA decisions,” should she be confirmed and what would happen if she and Browner ever disagree; Browner was EPA administrator during the Clinton administration, and is widely known in Washington as a forceful personality who can hold her own in bureaucratic combat. Jackson said she expects to seek Browner’s “advice and counsel,” but that “the final EPA decisions will be made by the EPA administrator.”
