I am so beside myself this morning. My heart is hurting with pride and joy, and for the first time in my life a real love for our president (there's been a few that I liked.. sorta)
Civil rights moved from about halfway down the 4th column of "the agenda" to the very first spot in the first column.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/civil_rights/Reading that page, I can't even begin to say the things it makes me feel. Even though it is for "civil unions" and not marriage, it still makes me feel like an equal citizen to the President of the United States for the first time in my life, instead of a 2nd or even 3rd class citizen.
Warren gave me big pause on if I was going to feel 2nd class or not yet again, but reading that page today..
Mathew Sheppard act, adding us to ENDA, ending DOMA, FULL equal rights and federally recognized Civil Unions with all of the federal rights of marriage attached, adoption rights.. I'm choked up.
