time running this year. Go back and look at any Youtubes from the late spring - she was incredibly brittle and she either had a too bright smile or a frown. By June, she did not seem at all like she had in earlier years.

The SOS slot was a gift that will give her the opportunity to blossom into an incredibly important international figure. I think this might be more who she is than politics - which was Bill Clinton's love.

because - from my posting history, it is clear that I am not a Clinton fan. I think the offer of the SOS was a gift to her - no disguise at all. I seriously doubt that she relished the thought of running in either 2012 - against as incumbent President in her own party - or in 2016.

It is extremely grueling. This year, asked about the gaffes of McCain and HRC, Kerry answered instead that running a Presidential campaign was the most physically exhausting thing he had ever done even though he has always been athletic and fit and that those things happen. In addition to the lack of sleep and physical challenge, it may be that, unlike Bill Clinton, meeting crowds of new people is more emotionally draining than revitalizing for HRC.

I hope she will be a great SOS, because we need her to be. It was hard to read how happy she is with this. The contrast between her demeanor and Susan Rice's in their respective hearings suggests that she really was conflicted with what she wanted to do. I do think this was a very clever political solution for Obama, aligning perfectly what is best for the Clintons with what is best for him. Like the best solutions everywhere - it seems win/win.

We will have 8 years of a YOUNG, VIBRANT President with a new way of operating. I find it INCREDIBLY unlikely that this new generation of American voters will want to abruptly change course 180 degrees and elect someone who came to the national stage in the 90s and will be past RETIREMENT AGE.

This year was her year. If she couldn't pull it off now, she can't pull it off in 8 years when she's in her late 60s and a new generation is leading the nation. She knows this, which is precisely why she took the Secretary of State position. If she were going to run again, she'd have stayed in the Senate, rebuilt her power base, etc.

But even as confident as I am in my analysis of the situation, I'm not so flippant or arrogant to believe that I "have no doubt" about the course of world events in 2016. ANYTHING can happen. ANYTHING.

this primary. McCain was taken to task for his age as was Hillary (at 61).

Hillary is the only politician (at her level of being a candidate for pres) ever to have strong feminist principals. In my opinion we are long overdue for a president who puts women and children first in foreign policy. I am glad she is Sec. of State.

I think she will have to level the playing field for all women as Sec. of State. Bringing women's issues to the forefront will be helpful to us.

The double standard for women is high (people are already saying Gillebrand has no experience yet these are the same people who voted Obama - who had "no experience."

We have to take people to task for the double standard and let people know our numbers:

We are 52% of population

We are 17% of the Senate and House
20% of the Governors
0% of Executive Branch

The UN released a study this year called "Who Answers to Women?" It showed that women in countries where there is gender parity in parliaments women and children do better in those countries.
The US ranks 57 in the world in terms of Gender Parity.
