1. The funny thing is that State has been the most adult department right along... but ignored.

The State Department intelligence analysis group was the only one of 17 intelligence bodies that got Iraq pretty much right.

Powell should have listened to his own people!

It is a wonderful thing to see State restored in prestige and power.

(And Hillary is a good choice to re-consolidate State's lost power because she is ambitious and relentless. Meanwhile Gates is a lame duck. She can be counted on to accumulate power to herself which happens to be just what's needed at the moment.)
