on MSNBC..apparently didnt pay taxes on the nanny. I'm looking for the story.

1. People close to Governor say these problems arose during the vetting process and had already decided not to give it to her

2. People close to Kennedy say other reasons are for why she dropped out.

as regards household help? It's just not that hard to do. My mother's always had household help and she's never had a problem paying Social Security and FICA. Pretty simple stuff.

19. I have very limited cleaning help only once a month so I'm under the minimum

before taxes must be paid. But if I had her more often I would pay the taxes necessary. Caroline knows better. What a disappointment she has turned out to be! Obama must be bummed, too...

23. yes, this is almost certainly full time help.

And a lot of the time the reason that taxes aren't paid on household help is that the employee is not here legally. Not saying that's the case here, but it often is the way it works.

about people who don't pay FICA and Social Security on their household help. It really screws the employee.

BE an issue at THIS time. Maybe someone was looking for something to derail her possibilities and implied it would be leaked. Maybe not. It doesn't make sense that she would offer this little tidbit as her reason for dropping out 2 days before Paterson was going to announce.

If she knew he wasn't going to pick her, it makes even LESS sense that she would not just do/say nothing and let the appointment just go ahead as planned. This just doesn't make any sense at all...

Whether she was going to be picked or not, these announcements do not seem to be something that anyone would want to put out - unless they didn't have a choice - because it's clearly not favorable news no matter what.

Regardless of being for or against Kennedy, this whole thing stinks on some level...

Caroline might be able to try again in two or four years, provided she clears up her tax and nanny issues. It didn't look like she was fully prepared for the job this time.

28. True story. When my father became increasingly ill and I had to

manage his affairs and pay around the clock staff, I hired 4 people who had done round the clock care before. After hiring them and having them fill out their data so I could pay withholding, one of them kept hers a little long before handing it in. When it came time for me to pay the quarterly withholding, I asked her to give me the information. She did without her social security number. I ended up having to fire her over it. I reported the wages but the IRS came for me. So, was I royalty, rich, and unfit?
