there was, which would be truly remarkable for a crowd that size.

That would be another one for the history books, wouldn't it?

1. The peace marches were actually...peaceful until the end when anarchists showed up.
But, as Collins says in the NYT column, it was Woodstock without the mud.

that those uppity negroes didn't come through for them with some riots or vandalism or whatever.

12. Even if a few had occurred, the unanimous attitude of peace, joy and patriotism is undeniable.
People weren't exactly being inspired to do negative, to say the least.
