It's interesting how the Republic party hasn't seemed to yet realize the wee fact that
911 happened on George W. bUsh's (R) watch after George W. bUsh (R) was warned...and went on the longest presidential vacation on record.

"Mr. Thiessen, in The Washington Post, focused his argument on the fact that terrorists never struck American soil again after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, calling that Mr. Bush’s singular legacy. “If Obama weakens any of the defenses Bush put in place and terrorists strike our country again, Americans will hold Obama responsible — and the Democratic Party could find itself unelectable for a generation,” he wrote."

Now really...how can one say that with a straight face.

1. This needs to be affixed in the first paragraph
of any bio of George W Bush.

5. I've been trying to repeat this myself, whenever appropriate...
All presidents prevent attacks numerous times. He ignored the worst in history. Therefore the legacy spin that there was something exceptional about keeping us safe - is irrelevant and ridiculous. Besides, he conveniently leaves out any domestic terrorism events that may have been smaller in scale, but are formally listed as terrorism nonetheless.

Bush is a travesty. I didn't think one individual could ever do so much damage so enormously, both to this strong nation and throughout the globe...

His presidency should be retroactively rescinded and stricken from the record as a legitimate Administration.

Or something.

9. The first WTC attack occurred about a month after Clinton was sworn in.
However, the persons responsible for the attack were captured, tried and convicted and we had no attack until 9/11, when Bush was president.

You don't hear Republicans using that logic in their arguments, do you?

8. And can anyone here imagine
Obama sitting stunned into immobility in front of a bunch of school children were he told the US was under attack? And then virtually disappearing from public for an entire day? Oh sure, I might expect him to evacuate to an undisclosed location for security, but not to issue lame boilerplate reassurances, and when the dust had settled advise us all to go shopping!

Or suggesting that the proper response to a bioterrorist attack is to stock up on duct tape and plastic sheets?

He may not be perfect, but he also knows enough to surround himself with really, really smart people. And to know when to heed their advice.

12. I don't understand why they always "don't count" 9/11. It's always
no attacks SINCE 9/11. (well, I do understand WHY they do that, but I don't understand why nobody ever call them on it)

Was 9/11 like Katrina-- something the supposed professionals had to "learn from" before they could "get it right"? So somehow the "first" bungling is okay and should be excused?

13. I read a post comparing bush to a bad babysitter.
The babysitter lets the kids all run wild until the 3-year-old runs out into the street and is hit by a car. Then she locks all the other kids up in a little room in the basement. When the parents come home, the sitter brags that she "kept the kids safe" after the toddler was killed in the street, which was actually the fault of the previous sitter.

Does anything Republicans say make a lick of sense?

14. A friend told me that Fox News is saying...
...that because of shutting down gitmo, they will hold Obama directly responsible for any terrorist attacks in the future.

My immediate response of course was "Just like they held Bush responsible for 9/11".

I just can't believe conservatives in this country. They are the lowest fucking form of scum I have ever seen. If they were villains in a Hollywood blockbuster, we would complain that they were too evil to be realistic.
