Is anyone listening to Hardball and Kit Bond (R) Mo
He said people in Kansas and Missouri like Gitmo, people in San Francisco want it closed, so sent the Gitmo prisoners to Alcatraz. These idiots just don't get it. Still playing the red vs blue game.

2. I saw it earlier
and was surprised nobody posted on it. And, how about his "Presidents just don't....just DON'T investigate past presidents...it's not done!" stammers. Hmm, Kit. Me thinks doth protest too much.

5. I do find that just crazy.. He was trying to find anything in his little pea brain
to bring Clinton into the argument of past presidential investigations.

6. You knew he'd try to work a Clinton comment in, right?
Investigating Whitewater and investigating illegal wiretapping, torture, illegal wars, and financial impropriety are not equivalent.

11. I don't think so!
I'm in Missouri, I DON'T like Gitmo.

Kit Bond needs to remember that Missouri barely went to McCain, and I suspect had things been a little different in certain districts, he wouldn't have won MO at all. And by different, I mean fair, unlike the 8 hour lines the poorest and/or blackest districts experienced.

12. Why do they have to be moved - if the entire facility is redone so
that it doesn't violate any international laws and follows the Army Field Guide procedures that they all seem to be recommending.

Is it because there is just too much stigma, or is there some other more significant reason? If it's the former, I don't see why a name change and a complete overhaul while this is all sorted out can't be an option...

It must be something more than that - but we want to send them to other countries, so I'm a little confused.

17. Redoing Gitmo would be like redoing Abu Ghraib
the stench of abuse and crime cannot be washed away simply by changing the name or shuffling the chairs on the deck. The stigma is offensive to all law abiding people of the world.

21. I don't think I can agree. I think it would be very healing and
helpful if the physical location and facility was so completely re-done and "fixed" - which could then be seen as a symbol of our determination to correct what was so destructive and vile.

Left as is and abandoned, it will always be remembered for what it has been, even if the entire thing is razed.

I think replacing it with what is right would be a good thing. And I think a name change would be appropriate and useful in (eventually) viewing it as our taking responsibility for what we've done wrong. Trying to dole out these detainees (but not wanting them near us) wouldn't make such a dramatic statement.

Just a thought...

Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 07:19 PM by nc4bo
paint Obama as being naive and irresponsible since Obama hasn't stated where the dangerous Gitmo prisoners will be sent.

He negligently omitted that Obama only said that Gitmo will be closed in 1 year(?) and all torture will stop. If I remember correctly, Obama has said that they will be working hard planning on where to put the really dangerous terrorists.

I think he even tried to compare Obama to Clinton? :wtf:

Oh yea, Tweety is being a really weak interviewer too and isn't following up with his usual fervor.

I despise these republicans.

Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 07:19 PM by tularetom
Rove has probably issued the marching orders to prevent investigations/prosecutions for torture and war crimes at any cost. And now it's looking like it may happen in spite all of their efforts and they don't want to face Rove and tell him they couldn't stop it.

Every day that passes the chances that investigations are gonna happen get greater. I'd say it's pretty much a done deal at this point and these asswipes are gettin scared.
