i will post some pics tomorrow, i promise. but i want to thank all the people who waded through all that to make it absolutely, positively clear that we the people think that bush/cheney deserve to rot in hell, and that we are totally behind our new president.
that crowd on the mall was a living, breathing mandate the likes of which i have never seen.
yes we can take our country back. and yes we did.

i have worked outdoors in the cold. i had the perfect set of clothes for the cold.
i have a whole new definition for the word cold now. my scale of 1 to 10 just got recalibrated. sweet jesus was it cold.

6. i was about in the middle, just below the castle

i wish i knew the names of all the buildings! i was toward the pennsylvania ave side. i had a pretty good view of the jumbtron.
i made the mistake that lots of people made of trying to leave on that side, and tried to head over to the parade area. it was practically a stampede when people figured out you couldn't get out that way, and people started circling back to the maryland side. oy.
and the metro. oy, oy, oy.

7. You weren't that far from me then!

I have a picture of the Smithsonian Castle. I did have an advantage as a local..I headed as far away from the parade route as I could and did some extra walking around some REALLY jammed Metro stations (and got caught in some pretty thick crowds) to a station that was actually close to the Hawk and Dove..It wasn't that crowded..I was on the Metro within 10 minutes...

i made all the wrong moves. got back to old town alexandria at 5 pm.
