I think of it as opening up the Prez directly to US and bypassing the media.

Let them have their little temper tantrums. Their arrogance is not attractive.

1. I agree with you, primarily. I think, though that it also means that

such transparency is equally accessible to the press - not privileged information or access (except when appropriate - and I think there are times for such discretion and sensitivity, including advance information or interview for the press).

But as far as the transparency of the workings of the Administration, I think you're right - Obama meant that for us first, and that includes (but does not prefer or advance) the press.

Especially in light of the news that journalists and reporters may be under surveillance even now by Bushco, or even if they aren't, Obama understands that they don't always get his message across with the meaning he intended, so I can't blame him for either doing that himself or just offering information and facts freely and letting us decide on our own, rather than have it filtered through someone who may slant it in whole or in part for job success reasons or other self-beneficial reasons.

Bottom line: Obama proves, yet again, he is far from dumb... we're just so used to dumb. The press especially, perhaps...

2. After aiding and abetting *'s warcrimes for the last 8 years I was dumbfounded today to hear Blitzer

whining about there only being an audio and a still pic of President Obama's second oath of office. He was saying "That's not transparent..."

Whaaaa?
