You really don't want to be playing those instruments in that cold DC weather. You pretty much have to fake it, otherwise the music will sound terrible, and the musicians will be miserable.

Of course it was pre-recorded, it had to be unless you like screetching violin. Not to mention the fact that virtually every live performance in front of a large TV audience is at best pre-recorded and mixed with the live version. People in TV know this stuff. Joe Scarborough is full of shit.
