A RW Repug Friend E-Mailed Me This & I Want To Send Him A Blistering Response - Please Help......
Here's what his e-mail said:

You Have to Love Our Media - And the beat goes on. Nay-sayers persist in their intractable denial on how
unbiased and fair is the mainstream media. Headlines On This Date 4 Years Ago:

"Republicans spending $42 million on inauguration while troops Die in unarmored Humvees"

"Bush extravagance exceeds any reason during tough economic times"

"Fat cats get their $42 million inauguration party, Ordinary Americans get the shaft"

Headlines Today:

"Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $120 million"

"Obama Spends $120 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party"

"Everyman Obama shows America how to celebrate"

"Citibank executives contribute $8 million to Obama Inauguration"

Nothing like fair & unbiased coverage of the news !!!

So here are a couple of possible responses I was going to send him. What do you think? Can you provide me with more responses.

"The $120 was spent for the going away - far away party getting rid of Bush."

"$42 million in 2000 dollars is more than $120 million in 2009 dollars thanks to Bush."

1. The Bush inauguration number does NOT include security costs...
...his coronation cost roughly $140 million when using the same accouting methods applied to President Obama's inauguration...

Your friend is cherry-picking his numbers...

7. Obama's inauguration also gave us more bang for the buck
Bush's inauguration had around 300K (I believe but someone else should confirm this) attending and needless to say, with all the controversy about the Supreme Court ruling, there were problems. They spent around $140 million for this crap.

Obama had at the very least 1.5 million there-- probably even more and there were NO ARRESTS. I'd say that it was money well spent. Also, the $160 million number was pulled out of the AP's hat by random.

Sounds to me like it's just bitterness from the Republicans that everyone else is so obviously celebrating Obama's inauguration. Ask him how much money the economy's lost after the stack of cards that Bush's little business buddies built collapsed and how much money was funneled to them through Bush's 2 little adventures into Iraq and Afghanistan. By all estimates, Bush's presidency has cost at least 2 trillion dollars to the United States alone. I'd say whatever amount of money Obama's inauguration has cost, it pales by comparison.

Were there links to any of those...

Sounds more like blogger's headlines
than newspaper headlines.

4. Or how about...
Bush actually spent $157 million and Obama actually spent $160 million. Bush had $115 million in security costs that were not included when it was reported that his Inauguration cost $42 million. The $42 million is strictly private donations. It was really lazy reporting from the media.

what none have even mentioned that the troops & the police from other states all volunteer to be there. Bush hit the panic button and made this an "emergency situation" in the end the states that were asking for rediculous amounts of money will not even get close. There were no arrests made the entire time either as per DC Metropolitian police & the US Park Service. In the end we had a crowd & traffic control situation.

15. Those headlines are fake
I just did a search for a few of them, and can't find in. Even the rare case, when a link would take me to them, those words did appear on the linked page. If they're real, they're probably from some obscure publications or from liberal columnist. They're not news headlines.

So, I'd write back, "Those headlines are fake or perhaps from liberal columnists. The same sort of headlines can be found on Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter's web ages. Why don't you stop your whining and grow up! The poor-me attitude of the conservatives like you is not what this country needs. We need to move forward. As Dylan said, 'He who's not busy being born is busy dying.'"

16. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people wanted to see a legitimately elected
president take office

Unlike the predecessor. Plus, a lot of that $42 million was spent on eggs for throwing.

Or, you could point out that the media's been deliberately reporting the cost of the Inauguration differently, and that stupid people are licking it up. your call.

21. Break it down per person of people attending the inauguration.
For Obama participants it's less than a dollar per person based on the quote of 2 million attendees. Shrub had a crowd of 300,000 and that breaks down to $140 per person.

And everyone is happy now and the media reflects it.
