36. this is why the size of the crowd was so important . . .
people around the world not only saw Obama being inaugurated, they also saw that a couple of million Americans stopped what they were doing to travel to Washington to bear witness . . . those tv crowd shots gave me goosebumps, and I imagine others across the globe were similarly affected . . .

And how they still feel about it.

9. I'm still pinching myself...
After all we've been through, it's hard to make myself realize that the nightmare is over! We still have all his residual destruction to fix, but the monster is gone! It is so much easier to face the problems with Obama at the helm... even knowing things will get much worse before they get better. At least we are headed in the right direction instead of running full throttle in the WRONG direction.

W = WRONG

27. I remember JFK. I was astounded to learn that there were people living
in remote parts of the world that had his picture in their 'home' - a remember seeing one in a yurt and this was before his assasination. I thought about it often and still do. Something passed through to people who did not speak English, who may have only spoken one language. Whether his words were translated or they got something from his voice, plus some translation - they locked on to him. It will be even greater for Obama, because we were not threatened when Kennedy was President like we have just experienced and are not finished with.

49. Obama, JFK, Roosevelt
I also remember JFK, I was a teenager, 17 when he was elected. He was loved, and I also remember the stories of JFK's picture in those small homes around the world, especially in South America. I predict that generations from now we still will be talking about and fondly remembering Roosevelt, JFK, and Obama. It seems now in the conservative circles they are trying to downgrade Roosevelt and his handling of the depression. We wouldn't have the safety nets we have now if it wasn't for Roosevelt. Not only social security, but Unemployment compensation, aid to dependent children, death benefits, FDIC, health care, FHA and on and on. That's one reason why the Repug's dislike Roosevelt so much and seem to be trying to revise history. Which we should not find surprising. They are calling Kennedy weak and superficial and will revile or try revise Obama generations from now. They are also trying to show that Nixon was a victim of viscous liberals. God bless President Obama.

i had no idea there were black Colombians or iraqis. i am just amazed and i guess i should have known. but in america we aren't taught about the diaspora. i guess there were slaves dropped all over north/central and south america. i guess the proximity of iraq to africa-it makes sense. it is sort of cool to realize that there are people that look like me all over the world. hello to all my brothers and sisters in the diaspora-all over the world..

I wore my hair in braids/beads when I was a little girl ONCE. I was about 11. It took 9 hours to do and because my hair was so long, I'd whip people, doors, whatever was close by if I turned my head too fast. I loved those things. :)
