SoS Hillary Clinton, Off to a Running Start with Foreign Leaders and USAID

"On Friday, Clinton met with a group of visiting female Afghan legal professionals.
The fourteen judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys were in Washington on a State Department training program on justice reform in Afghanistan.

The State Department issued a statement about the meeting late Friday. It was not on Clinton’s public schedule, and Wood did not mention the meeting at his daily press briefing when he discussed the secretary’s second day in office.

According to the State Department, Clinton praised the women’s “bravery and courage” for bringing reform to Afghanistan and reaffirmed President Obama’s commitment to stabilizing Afghanistan.

At her confirmation hearing, Clinton also pledged to focus more attention on women’s issues, especially in Afghanistan."

1. NoQuarter is run by racist PUMA Larry Johnson.
A site probably best separated from Hillary Clinton, and at this point I'm reasonably certain she would agree.

38. "The Dogwhistle Clinton Campaign"
The Dogwhistle Racism of Hillary Clinton:
http://richmonddemocrat.blogspot.com/2008/01/dogwhistle-racism-of-hillary-clinton.html

The dogwhistle racism of Hillary Clinton. Oops, she did it again.

If that were not bad enough, Clinton's campaign has been pursuing a fairly obvious strategy of having surrogates attack Obama while the campaign itself denies any involvement. As Josh Marshall wrote:

We seem to be at the point where there are now two credible possibilities. One is that the Clinton campaign is intentionally pursuing a strategy of using surrogates to hit Obama with racially-charged language or with charges that while not directly tied to race nonetheless play to stereotypes about black men. The other possibility is that the Clinton campaign is extraordinarily unlucky and continually finds its surrogates stumbling on to racially-charged or denigrating language when discussing Obama.<1>

There has been an entire string of these "gaffes" from Clinton surrogates. What we have here is a deliberately planned campaign of smear. Yesterday, Clinton surrogate Bob Johnson implied that Barack Obama's time as a community organizer was actually spent dealing drugs, then, hours later, backed away from those comments and denied any such implication. Marshall reacted to these theatrics.

* snip *

Dogwhistle racism has no place in the Democratic Party. The presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton has entered territory where I cannot follow. If Clinton continues on the course she is on and secures the nomination, I will have no choice but to sit out the 2008 presidential campaign.

Andrews Heard Racist Strategy from Clinton Camp:
http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/topstories/index.ssf/2008/06/andrews_says_he_heard_racist_s.html

A Democratic superdelegate from New Jersey said this week he is worried that unifying the party behind Barack Obama may be difficult because the Clinton camp "has engaged in some very divisive tactics and rhetoric it should not have."

U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews, who supported Hillary Clinton throughout the primary season, disclosed he received a phone call shortly before the April 22 Pennsylvania primary from a top member of Clinton's organization and that the caller explicitly discussed a strategy of winning over Jewish voters by exploiting tensions between Jews and African-Americans.

"There have been signals coming out of the Clinton campaign that have racial overtones that indeed disturb me," Andrews said at his campaign headquarters in Cherry Hill Tuesday night after he lost his bid for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination.

"Frankly, I had a private conversation with a high-ranking person in the campaign ... that used a racial line of argument that I found very disconcerting. It was extremely disconcerting given the rank of this person. It was very disturbing."

21. you don't think when the media says that "bitch" describes hillary clinton,
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 03:20 AM by Cash_thatswhatiwant
that someone crosses their legs when they see hillary clinton, and that hillary clinton reminds everyone of their first wife? what do you think the reaction would be if someone said everytime they see obama they cover their wallet? the democratic party is still all too blind to sexism, sadly. its still okay to say things about women that would never be uttered about blakc people, though they should be equally offensive.

it was said best, sexism affects everyone across the world. you can go into places all over the world where there are no racial distinctions but they are all united in their hatred and mistreatment of women.

there absolutely was rampant sexism in the primary. i don't know why its hard for some people to admit that. it doesn't even take someone who supported hillary to see that.

23. You forgot a few:
Tweety: We all know why Hillary is a senator and a presidential candidate. It's because her husband "messed around".

Shuster: Hillary is pimping Chelsea.

Olbermann: She should be taken behind a barn and only one of them should come out.

Add to that the remarks about her voice (shrill), laughter (cackle), hair, weight, clothes and even her cleavage.

Noooooo, there was no sexism at all. Yep, it was just a "victim card".

24. I sincerely hope you do not believe that ...
... there was no sexism present in this election cycle, or that what people perceived as sexism was done deliberately to be a political ploy, or that all the people who have pointed out what they perceive as sexism were simply using a political card in a pathetic way.

I am not saying our President is sexist.

What I am saying is that this election cycle was a demonstration (as if we really needed one) that both racism and sexism are alive and well.

Please be careful when making statements like that people are simply playing a "victim card". Believe it or not, when those statements are made it can sound awfully similar to our enemies and other twits who ridicule and demean legitimate criticism as "playing cards".

As for this particular website..... I just read a bit. I think it's sad that the author claims to be a Democrat but will not support our President. I think his views are a bit extreme. I have yet to find things indicating that the true reason he hates Obama is that he happens to be racist, but I will keep reading.

19. I especially liked this part ..
commitment to both a change in direction for this country and robust diplomacy.

Following that meeting, Hillary continued to roll up her sleeves. No surprise there, by the way. But after eight years of an administration where, as Hillary herself said, “President Bush thought we only had one diplomat – Condi Rice, since he sent her everywhere…,” how refreshing to have a woman now at the helm who gets it – and intends to use every human resource available to progress our foreign policy. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/larry-c-johnson/the-obama-democrats-ostri_b_100942.html

http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/02/larry-johnson-unhinged-obamas.php

"As Democrats and Independents weigh who they want to run against John McCain in the fall, answer this question. Can you support a candidate who is friends with terrorists? Can you support a candidate who takes money from terrorists? Well, if Obama is your man you have some problems..."

The full article referenced in that TPM article is mysteriously no longer available. Guess it was too embarassing.

Larry Johnson is also the one who claimed to have a tape of Michelle Obama saying the word "whitey", and promised to produce it. He never did. That's because Michelle Obama never said it.

In the meantime, we have to watch the equivalent of a papal coronation, as the media and fans exhult in the Obama Messiah, the black Jesus come to save us. But sometime in the next four months, the excitement will fade as the reality of who Obama is comes out.

<...>

Now I know Obamaphiles will simply bend over and stick their head in their neighbor’s ass and proclaim the putrid aroma as the heaven-sent breath of God. They will say this means nothing and is just carping.
