My three favorite pictures from last week (maybe of all time . . .)

Has any First Family ever displayed such sheer, uncomplicated and precious joy on Inauguration Day (or any other time, for that matter)?

23. Look how everyone else in the elevator glances away and give the
First Couple some privacy in the moment. A very good picture indeed.

6. Nice pics
I've seen the last one and one other where the Obama's are head to head. The other one was around the time of the inauguration judging by their clothes.

As someone who shares his life with cats and everyone knows that cats are terrorists - well I've seen this behavior regularly. We call it a head hug. Our kitties do it to us if we put our head down to them. So first the fist bump and now the feline head hug. I just don't know what to make of it.

It is so good to see a first family in the White House that is so much in love and able to play.

8. I just love that last picture . . . it looks like the President is getting his rap on and Michelle
is saying, "You are so silly!"

Suweet!

(I can't believe I just wrote, "The President is getting his rap on." We are definitely not in Kansas anymore, are we Toto?)

11. Ridiculously cute

They may need to hold off on getting that puppy - the combination of those girls AND a puppy may be too much for the nation to stand.

21. When my daughter was a little girl, she was so filled with joy
that she laughed constantly, and her laughter was huge, like Sascha's. In pictures, it always looked almost as though she was barking, because her laugh was so big.

(My joyous little girl is now a 27-year-old emergency room doctor. She doesn't laugh as big as she used to.)

13. Yeah, I love that second one. Anyone who's been around little kids is familiar with the
little spontaneous expressions of joy such as his daughter is displaying dancing around.

The last one is great because it conveys that the Obamas are actually in love and enjoy each other's company. The Secret Service dudes are a little uncomfortable trying to figure out which way to look. You can pretty much tell that there will be, ahem, more Inaugural festivities later.

14. Thanks! Very charming photos!
And much as I worry about U.S. monarchy and empire, and our sick corpo/fascist media "cult of personality" (which turns peoples' brains off), I do appreciate our human need for a positive, healthy national self-image. President Obama and his family more than fulfill that need. They are quite wonderful.

We should just never forget how twisted and excessively damaging to our country this phenomenon (our need for a good national self-image) became under Reagan (a president who was complicit in the horrible deaths of 200,000 thousand Mayan villagers in the 1980s, and many other atrocities, and did tremendous damage to our economic structure). With Bush, we could see them straining to make something of his mean-spirited, toxic personality--a "cowboy" or something. These efforts were hideous to behold. But with Reagan, they were largely successful, and that unreality, that illusion, was the beginning of the horrendous mess we are in today.

I try to be hard-nosed, objective and realistic--somebody has to be--but I sneak peaks at the pix of this lovely family, too. My heart goes out to them. They are really so beautiful and so genuine. They are a tonic to our battered souls. And I fervently hope that we never slip into lies, illusion and hypocrisy again.

15. How great to have LIFE back in the White House! The second pic is Melia snap
ing a picture because dad's "all dressed up". Sasha's celebration jig is just icing on that picture for me.
In the last photo, they are making the rounds to the um-teenth ball and the freight elevator is probably cold and Obama is a gentleman,
and they clearly savoring victory, and LOVE! (Makes you want to write a sonnet!)

25. I love that this type of will make it harder to attack him
Republicans will just look like big old meanies even more than they do now. There is definitely some intangible celebrity or Camelot or "it factor" about them that I've never seen in my lifetime. Not on a politician anyway.

here we go again. I can only take so much change, especially after the last eight years.

No to be vulgar, when was the last time we had a President and 1st Lady that were intimate in the Whitehouse? Correction, intimate with each other in the Whitehouse.:fistbump:
