Pastor/radio host says Obama is "worthy of death"
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 08:52 AM by LuckyTheDog
I wish I had a tape of this. A nutball radio host/pastor in the Detroit market said ON THE AIR that Barack Obama -- along with all others who accept the "homosexual lifestyle" as normal -- is "worthy of death."

This is his Web site:

22. The Secret Service takes these things very seriously...
while most people are blustering fools, there are a few serious nutcases that might be motivated by such things. It is incredibly irresponsible for anyone to to air such a point of view.

31. Between Timothy McVeigh and Benjamin Smith
it should be clear by now that anti-government and racist and homophobic religious leaders have an influence on these small groups. The World Church of the Creator regularly "preaches" (the religious term) that people of other races and non-straight sexual orientations deserve to die. These leaders and organizations can definitely incite members of their groups to violence while they stand back and claim that they were only standing on the sidelines practicing their First Amendment rights.

32. These "people" are evil...
however, I would never advocating infringing upon their 1st Amendment Rights. for one thing, as soon as the 1st Amendment is denied one group, no matter how vile they are, other groups will be denied the same Right.

Most importantly though, I like to know who my enemies are, and what they are up to. When I see or hear these creatures, I can get an idea of what is up. Inevitably, they tip their own hand and become targets of investigation. Many will lose their tax exempt status, some may go to jail...either way, w/o them vomiting their bile, they would be harder to keep track of.

36. But, as a poster pointed out above..
There is a "fire in a crowded theater" exception to the first amemendment. There are many unstable personalities who will think to themselves - "well, if the pastor says so...I will carry it out".

No one should be "preaching" - on air - that the president or anyone else "is worthy of death". That is not freedom of speech, that is, in cases like this, very possibly incitement.

46. I am not sing only the advocation of someone's death in my post...
I am merely stating that the hate these people espouse has to be noticed, heard and challenged. Even as repulsive as i find hate groups and hate speech, Silencing them actually empowers them.

The Secret Service should be advised of anything that advocates the death of a high official, and the FBI should be notified of the hate speech speech of any group.

I am not condoning this stuff, but there are aspects that fall into the 1st Amendment territory...just ask Fred Phelps, he's won cases on this stuff, and I sure as hell don't agree w/anything that maniac has to say.

47. That's not the point of the post...
most certainly, I think advocating the death of a president or anyone else, is wrong, immoral and illiegal; but there are points to the situation where it cr0osses into gray territory as far as 1st Amendment Rights. There aare others, closer to the mainstream, that have said such things and have not been taken to task, think Limbaugh, Savage and Hannity, who each, on not a fe occasions called for similar action against Clinton, Obama and others.

50. It is covered in the sense that you can't put somebody in jail for it
But I'm sure it is grounds for the Secret Service to get search warrants and conduct wiretaps.

41. The Supreme Court has ruled that Freedom of Speech doesn't cover "Fighting words"
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 02:53 PM by lunatica
because it's speech that creates violence it is called "Fighting words" and a ruling by the Supreme Court has said they are not protected. Look on page 88 of the book Freedom of Speech A Reference Guide to The United States Constitution by Keith Werhan:

48. Can you imagine how many calls the SS get over these threats?
I mean so many people are open about wanting the president dead, angry republicans to angry racists, I bet the SS is working harder then they ever have to keep up with all the tips they've been getting. I wonder what they do about them all, do they investigate them? Do they go talk to them and if it's just some crack pot tell them to knock it the hell off? How can the SS deter this cause it seems to be increasing lately.

4. Most of these radio programs are taped by the host
I would think you could inquire at the station about a copy of the program, probably for a fee, expressing (fake) interest in the program and then you could have it for proof. I'd contact the FBI, stating the date and approximate time you heard the program.

This is an example of why media re-regulation needs to include provisions for license non-renewal.

No reason whatsoever that the owners of this station should be granted access to the public airwaves if this is what they're going to broadcast.

However, I've got the link to the online re-air below. His show will come on 10 AM Central Time. If it was said yesterday, then I would think it would be in this re-airing. I can open my audio recorder and snag it, but if this statement wasn't made yesterday, then I don't want to listen to this puke for nothing. Hate mongers make me crazy.

25. These threats are being taken seriously...I hope they keep locking
these assholes up.

An Omaha man is facing a federal charge after threatening to shoot and kill President Barack Obama.

A news release issued Friday by U.S. Attorney Joe Stecher says Johnnie Galarza, 55, was charged in an indictment that was unsealed this week. It alleges the threat was made on or around Nov. 10, when Obama was president-elect.

The indictment alleges Galarza said he could kill Obama with a sniper shot from a distance of 256 yards.

If convicted, Galarza faces up to five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and three years of probation.

They don't deserve to fly the flag, drive on the roads tax paying Americans fund, or have the rights of a citizen. It's treason -- and FOR NO REASON except hate.

We suffered through an illegally appointed President who then started a war illegally and violated the constitution every day before he got up. When we protested those acts, we were called UnAmerican and Treasonous. Now, they're all over the place with their sick rhetoric and violence inciting.

Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 02:59 PM by derby378
All of them had Secret Service agents hanging off of them, naturally, but at least a couple of them were special customized models with a flip-top roof that conceals a gun pod. Flip the roof open, and out pops a Secret Service agent manning a Dillon Aero minigun on a special turret. That minigun spits out .50-caliber rounds at a rate of at least 3,000 a minute.

I'd like to see one of those Suburbans pay a visit to Pastor Trail at the radio station for a little chat. Yeah, that'll probably make Trail pee himself.

They sound so ignorant and when a caller calls in to challenge them they try to get them off the line as soon as possible or use the announcer of the show to take over because he is suppose to be more intellectual. If he isn't around they try to talk over the person or pretend that they need to take a break.
