This President is a chess player in a checkers world.
Exactly what we need. He is a complex thinker and this will drive the knee jerkers crazy. They will not be able to keep up with his mind, his energy or his drive. He is brilliant, cautious, aggressive and his heart is in the right place. He has raised the bar and our government will never be the same as a result.

1. As a corollary to that, his enemies keep defending themselves against
the attacks that they can foresee, but those are not the kind of attacks Obama is likely to make. Case in point--my bet is that the Bushies assumed that their clampdown on Presidential papers would stand forever because any succeeding President would "of course" want to have the inner workings of his Administration hidden from the light of day. Likewise with the Justice Department--once you have gone to the bother of corrupting it, it will be a very useful tool for your successors.

3. Going from an Easy Reader to a Chess Player is making the media's heads explode.
They had an intellectual peer in the White House for 8 years - now they have someone to cover that is beyond their ability to comprehend. Just breathtaking.

5. Check out his first week. I think Obama surprised his opponents with how
vigorously he's pursuing our agenda. He only spoke of the economy during the transition period (although there were hints dropped about Gitmo), and he's blindsided his enemies now. They're left scrambling with this lame Pentagon report about the prisoners Bush released... no way you can tell me that's not sabotage from Obama's enemies within the Pentagon.

But he's already 3 moves ahead of them now.

7. A bit condescending to other peoples and cultures. I don't think the rest of the
world is "checkers". bush/cheney was.

10. I always wondered why Obama seemed to have no stomach
for going after *Co: now I know he knew he wouldn't have to. Just release the papers and all the vultures will descend to feast. CREW, ACLU, etc., probably can't believe it! Where do they start? Congressional committees have been fighting to get papers for months: now they'll get anything they want, except testimony. There will be a lot of people taking the Fifth.

Chess, indeed. I think he really plays the 3-C chess on Star Trek.
