Poll question: How pleased are you with Obama's first week?
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 10:44 PM by usregimechange

I will collect this data and complete a first month report on DU's view of Obama's performance. So... what is your opinion of his first week?

1. Why does he have to listen to Republicans at all?

6. Why?
Perhaps he understands what the American people are saying. They're tired of the divisive politics. They voted out Republicans big time in 06 and 08 because of those divisive politics.

If Obama goes in there and says screw the Republicans, I'm doing it my way, then those same American people will grow tired of him and the Democrats.

Look, I'm not one who wants to listen to their drivel, but I'm also one who understands what the people are saying and Obama is smart enough to know that he needs to keep listening to both sides, not just the side that some of us here prefer he listen to.

7. Exactly...
Not to mention he ran his entire campaign on bringing everybody together: "There is no 'red' America and 'blue' America. There is the United States of America." He's been saying that since his Keynote Address in '04. :hi: Balto!

11. Hey
How goes it?

I'm still waiting to see where Obama has gone back on anything he's going to do thus far. Maybe I'm looking through rose-colored glasses but since Tuesday, he's been the same guy who campaigned for the past 20 months.

12. Hey...
It goes ok. How 'bout you?

You're not looking through rose-colored glasses. He's been so busy not only keeping his promises, but working OVERTIME to go that extra mile. Some people seem to need something, anything to complain about.

18. How true. Dem or Repug, we are all American plus, at this point
we sure as hell don't want to give anyone any reason to reverse the trend.

2. You have to be kidding me!
I could NOT be happier with his first week!

And I suspect that he will only pick up steam as time goes on...

What a relief it is to have such a man as our President!

8. I would have been very pleased if he had purged all the Bushies from the DOJ....
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 11:12 PM by yourout
As it is I am pleased but the longer the DOJ remains tainted the harder it is going to be to clean up.

13. You do realize, don't you,
that it will be most useful for the next attorney general to get in there before attempting such?

17. WORSE than 'frosts my donut,'
as I'm a lawyer, in DC, and for years had the highest respect for those who worked there.

I feel so stupid for even entertaining the thought that he wasn't as genuine as he seemed.

25. If Republicans are playing politics right now over the stimulus package...
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 08:51 AM by Life Long Dem
of all times - like most all Presidents early on, Obama's ratings may never be higher, and at a time when we are in an economic crisis - does anyone think they will EVER work with America? Obama can continue to reach out, but there comes a time when he has to put his foot down and say enough is enough.

Let me add... I just may want to see Obama slap the repubs but good. But then again...:grr:
