3. Its true. Here in Northern VA, during the growth in the 90s, we tried to raise a penny
tax with half going to the schools and half going to transportation. The Repubs howled and cried. The 2nd richest county in the US (Fairfax County, VA)could not raise taxes 1 cent.

4. That's the only thought bubble they have, and it was easy to memorize
they don't have the equipment to come up with a new strategery--they have to cling like rigor-mortised pit bulls to that one persuasive idea. A lot of people have memorized their reactions to being given a tax break, no matter how small. For them at least it beats having to think.

5. Hey, if we eliminate taxes we increase revenues
isn't that how it works? I think Obama will have to eliminate taxes entirely so we can afford a massive game-changing stimulus.
