1. That was just an "absence of a quorum" roll call. They are not voting yet.

3. Damn. Doesn't look like Obama is going to get all the Democrats to vote for Geitner
Harkin saying he is voting against him

4. Maybe it's for the best. Geithner is partly reponsible for the economic mess
we're in right now, along with Greenspan and Summers. He couldn't foresee the fall of Wall Street? He didn't realize that he had to pay his taxes when he worked at the IMF? Hell, I worked for the IMF and I knew that I had to pay taxes? I don't buy it. Obama can find better...

5. I would rather have Geitner. If he doens't get it, Summers will.

6. Yeah, you're right, but I don't see any difference. Geithner is Summers' protege
But Summers is difficult to get along with, I hear. Either way, we're fucked.

7. Krugman on Sunday said Geitner is uniquely qualified...
and these tax and nanny issues pale in comparison to his value to solving this mess. BTW, he will be approved even if Harkin votes against him.

8. Yeah, I know. I hope Krugman is right. I trust him tremendously. So if he says
that Geithner is o.k., I'm more inclined to go along with that. I still have this bad, metallic taste in my mouth, though. :(

9. Yeah, That's pretty much how I feel too..
Seems we are in survival mode now and have to make some compromises.
